The aim**<br>**is to open up far more of the site to**<br>**visitors, and for community use , and to**<br>**operate the winding engine regularly.**<br>**Elements completed in this first year of**<br>**a 3 year project include :-  Extensive**<br>**repairs to masonry walls supporting the**<br>**pit bank; Provision of a new Fire Escape**<br>**for the Winding House and the purchase**<br>**and import of a special high volume**<br>**compressor from China which has been**<br>**permanently installed to enable the**<br>**winding engine to be run on a regular**<br>**basis. Further elements of this program**<br>**will continue into 2026.**|
