| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | The object of the CIO is for the public benefit, to advance the education of individuals in Uganda who are not fully engaged with education by: a. Delivering sessions and providing resources for the teaching the subjects of computer literacy, teaching skills and the importance of education; and b. Providing grants to like- minded organisations so that they may purchase learning resources to enhance educational outcomes. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
We have been in receipt of donations that during this period have been saved whilst determining best use. This has involved establishing a network of trusted connections of like-minded individuals and organisations based in both Uganda and elsewhere. Activity has been slower than desired during this initial period but we will have a lot more to report on in this next report. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
Para 1.18 | The trustees have had continued regard for this guidance. |
Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Donation generated have been slow but purposeful. In this reporting window no donations were made to activities, but support has been provided intellectually, and a lot of guidance had been given to organisations around their educational pursuits. This has led to meaningful relationships formed that we have been able to build on (and will report on next time) and for us to learn more and more about the context that we intend to support. One key fundraising partner was a local school and through this process students at this school benefitted immensely too. They learned a lot about what it means to be a global citizen and to have a right to an education. |
