The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. ## **Basis of Preparation** The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis and under the accruals basis of accounting, in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) (FRS 102). ## **Incoming Charity Resources** - **Incoming resources** - All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SOFA) when the charity is legally entitled to the income, it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount can be measured reliably, in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102). - **Unrestricted funds** All funds received during the year are treated as unrestricted funds and are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the charity’s charitable objectives. - **Collections and donations** Income from church collections and donations is recognised upon receipt. - **Event income** - Income raised from special spiritual programme events is recognised gross, before deducting any related expenditure. ## **Fixed Assets and Depreciation** Tangible fixed assets are recognised where the charity has control of the asset, it is probable that future economic benefits will flow to the charity, and the cost of the asset can be measured reliably. Assets are capitalised where they are intended for long-term use in furtherance of the charity’s objectives and are recorded at cost. Depreciation is provided on tangible fixed assets on a straight-line basis over their estimated useful economic lives so as to write off the cost of the assets over the periods in which they are expected to be used. Depreciation is charged from the date the asset is available for use.
