## **Shipston Sports Club 2025 Annual Report**

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to the Shipston Sports Club Annual General Meeting 2025. It is with immense pride and joy that I stand before you today to share some thrilling updates and remarkable achievements we have accomplished over the past year.

Since the beginning of the year, the management of the sports club has become entirely committee-led, including the bar. We are incredibly fortunate to have Danielle as our bar manager, and I am sure everyone will agree that she has been doing an outstanding job. The clubhouse and the bar are looking exceptionally smart, and we have had, and continue to have, numerous private bookings for the room, which is all very encouraging. A huge thank you to Danielle for all the hard work she has put in and continues to do to ensure the club is a success. With summer fast approaching, I am delighted to announce that the Winchester (soon to be given a new name!) has undergone a complete overhaul and a fresh lick of paint. It is ready and raring to go for a busy summer, with members and families enjoying the best beer garden in Shipston.

We are truly committed to listening to what our members want, and since the start of the year, we have brought back Sky TV for everyone to benefit from. We always welcome new suggestions, and where possible and budget allowing, we will always strive to accommodate these. We are also looking to reinstate the membership discount of 10% off all for fully paid up playing and social membership, so please watch this space!

It has been a pleasure to see so many existing, new, and old members up here supporting the club each weekend. Your presence and enthusiasm are truly the lifeblood of our community, and it is heartwarming to witness the camaraderie and support that thrives within our club. It has been great to see so many of the different sections' successes, and I know it will continue to be another positive year for all sections.

On another positive note, we had it confirmed that the 1st team senior football team will continue to play their matches down here for the next season at least. We really want to do all we can to accommodate their needs and to ensure that Shipston Excelsior 1st team senior football continues to be played down here as it has done for well over 50 years.

We are eagerly looking forward to our 50th birthday celebrations on 26th May. This is absolutely a milestone we need to celebrate and one we should be very proud to reach. We sincerely hope the day encompasses all the sports club has to offer and is an opportunity to share memories with old and new members. I know from listening and speaking to many members how dear the sports club is to you, so please do join us on the day to celebrate. The sections are all going to great effort to showcase what we have to offer, and there will be plenty of opportunities for all to join in, both young and old. Of

course, the bar will be open with drinks flowing, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible down here to celebrate. This celebration is also a fantastic opportunity to encourage and recruit new playing and social memberships. Thank you to the sections for organizing events, including junior cricket matches, a bowls competition, walking football, and the hockey girls who will be here demonstrating their silky skills in drinking! Please share the celebrations with as many people as you can; it would be wonderful to see lots of old and new faces down here.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the committee. Your dedication and hard work are truly the backbone of our club, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do. Without you this would not be possible. I know particularly the start of this year took up a great deal of people’s personal time in particular Lynda who I think was down here most days in January! Thank you to the committee for your support with everything and we have even managed to recruit some new members to the committee in recent months, your additions are very much welcomes and a huge thank you! If anyone else would like to join us, then please do let us know we are always keen to get new committee members on board!

Lastly, thank you to all our members for your continued support and dedication to Shipston Sports Club. Together, we will ensure that our club remains a vibrant and welcoming space for us all to enjoy for another 50 years.

Thank you.
