
## **The Oldham Band (Lees)** 

## ’ – Trustees Annual Report October 2025 

We have taken the commission’s public benefit guidance into account when preparing this report. All of the relevant documentation is up to date. 

The Oldham Band (Lees)’ objects are to promote the advancement and improvement of general education in all aspects of the art of playing brass band instruments through the presentation of concerts and other performances and to raise public taste in brass band music and the standard in performance in that music through competition. 

During the last 12 months the band has continued to participate in contests. 

The band finished 3rd in the North West Regional Contest and progressed to the National Finals at The Royal Albert Hall. The 10[th] place finish meant that the band was the highest placed NW band. 

The band also participated in the British Open Championships in Birmingham for the second year running. 

The band participated in the Whit Friday march contests finishing in 8[th] place out of 110 bands. 

The band has continued to support our local community and have supported Crompton and Royton Rotary Club, Lees Remembrance Sunday event organised by the Lees Branch of the Royal British Legion. 

The accounts are being prepared for the auditor. 

Financial updates are standing items on the AGM and band meeting agendas.

## **RE: Oldham Band (Lees) accounts for the period 01/11/2024 – 31/10/2025** 

I have examined the accounts of the Oldham Band (Lees) for the period 01/11/2024 to 31/10/2025 showing a surplus of £3,280.58. 

**Form of Audit** – I have reviewed expenditure items including their substantiating paperwork as well as validating these to the relevant banking transactions. 

There is no petty cash expenditure. 

Income was verified by reference to the bank statements. 

**Record Keeping** – the financial record keeping of the band is good and the accounts and supporting paperwork were well presented. 

**Opinion** – having examined the accounts, I can say that in my opinion they represent a true and fair view of the financial proceedings of the Oldham Band (Lees) for the period to 31 October 2025.
