**Guru Nanak Aid Charity Number 1201919** ## **Trustees' Annual Report for Guru Nanak Aid For the year ended 31st December 2023** ## **Introduction** Guru Nanak Aid is a UK-based charity dedicated to alleviating poverty and providing humanitarian assistance to those in need, inspired by the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Our mission is driven by compassion and service, aiming to empower marginalised communities in the UK and abroad. This report summarises our activities, financial performance, and future plans. ## **Objectives and Activities** The charity's objectives for the year were focused on several core areas: 1. Emergency Relief: We provided immediate support during crises, including food, shelter, and medical assistance, particularly in response to natural disasters; in specific the devastation caused by the flooding in India where we were able to respond with food, water and hygiene products. 2. Education and Empowerment: We continued our education programs, offering tutoring and scholarships to underprivileged children and vocational training and means for adults to promote self-sufficiency, for instance individuals have been bought electric rickshaws so to allow for them to earn their income and provide for their own families. 3. Health Initiatives: Our health projects included free medical camps, awareness programs on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare in both local and international communities. During mass gatherings in North India, we have provided toiletries and hygiene products to prevent the onset of disease. 4. Community Development: ongoing provision of pensions: We initiated projects aimed at building sustainable communities, many elders live without the financial means to support themselves, the necessity of consistent pension support is clear. Without which these community leaders who have a vital role in holding the family structures and the very fabric society together wouldn’t be able to fulfil their very essential roles. 5.Home repair and refurbishment: Individuals and families who were identified to be living in the worst of conditions and who met the qualifying criteria were assisted by providing them with essential repairs to their homes and for some bathroom and toilet facilities where they didn’t previously have them. ## **Achievements** In the year 2023, Guru Nanak Aid achieved significant milestones: - Educational Impact: Sponsored many in our educational programs, with a focus on girls' education in disadvantaged areas. - Health Services: provided in excess of 25,000 hygiene and toiletry products - Community Projects: Successfully oversaw the completion of 3 house repair projects. -In partnership with John Lewis, we have successfully celebrated Sikh religious occasions, bringing more awareness about the Sikh Faith. ## **Financial Overview** Our financial position remains strong, thanks to the generous support of our donors, volunteers, and partner organisations. For the year ending 2023: ## **- Total Income: £11,050** ## **- Total Expenditure: £5,725** Income was derived from various sources, including donations and fundraising events. We maintained a commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that 100% of donated funds are directed towards charitable activities. That ongoing charitable costs would be met by donations from the Trustees themselves. ## **Governance and Trusteeship** Guru Nanak Aid operates under the guidance of our Board of Trustees, who ensure compliance with legal obligations and the effective implementation of our mission. ## **Future Plans** Looking forward, we aim to expand our reach and impact by: - Launching new educational programs targeting youth in urban areas. - Increasing our health initiatives to address mental health challenges. - Strengthening partnerships with other organisations to amplify our efforts in disaster relief. ## **Acknowledgments** We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers, donors, and partners for their unwavering support.
