Trustees Annual Report for the period from June 2023 to June 2024

Charity Name: Little Wonders Charity

Charity registration number: 1201887

Initial Comments on Constitution Amendments

Little Wonders Charity constitution does not specify the timing and frequency of Annual General Meetings. Financial Accounting period is June – June, therefore we propose to amend the constitution to state that the AGM will be held annually within six months of the end of the accounting period and will cover that period only.

Therefore this AGM covers the period from June 2023 to June 2024 and the next AGM will be scheduled for Q3 2025 to cover the period from June 2024 to June 2025.

Objectives and Activities

The purpose of Little Wonders Charity is: to help relieve poverty for families in Derby through the provision of clothing and other essentials such as nappies.

Summary of main activities in relation to the purpose: Little Wonders Charity distributes nappy on a bi-monthly basis to families registered with us. These families are referred to us via charities, health visitors and other organisations such as schools.

Achievements and Performance

The first nappy delivery was in October 2023 to 15 children. From January 2024 we started a bi-monthly delivery schedule and by May the number of children registered had risen to 40. We also established a relationship with TOGS clothing bank to provide bulk purchases of nappies to them for the families they support.

We have continued to develop relationships with local authority health visitors and charities across the City to ensure that the families who are most in need are being referred.

The feedback that we receive from the charities and individuals we support is that this makes a significant difference to their lives and ability to provide what is needed for

their children. For some families Little Wonders Charity has provided a useful and much needed support system and we have been able to signpost them to other services that they can access.

Financial Review

Little Wonders Charity financial reporting period is from June 2023 to June 2024. See attached accounts to be submitted for this period.

Little Wonders Ltd ceased trading in 2023 and the remaining balance of £984.43 was transferred to Little Wonders Charity in order to enable the charity to start work. The first nappy delivery was then made in October 2023 at a total cost of £130.75.

During the period June 2023 to June 2024 we had total credits of £4,744.60. This was made up as follows:

Cash balance at the end of this accounting period was £3431.95.

It is worth noting that the National Lottery Grant of £2650 was to be spent over a 12 month period from March 24 to March 25.

During this accounting period we agreed a reserves amount of £300 which would enable us to complete a nappy delivery. The reserves amount is subject to frequent review due to the changing number of families that we support.

Principal sources of funding to date have been grant applications and donations from the public. We will continue to pursue both of these revenue streams going forwards and have discussed options for additional fundraising if required.

Structure, Governance and Management

Little Wonders Charity operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and as such we are registered with the Charity Commission (February 2023) and are governed by our constitution.

Little Wonders Charity has 5 Trustees with the following terms

Charlotte Wigfield 4 years Alexandra Orford 4 years Anna Mann 2 years Anna Whittingham 2 years Emma Milner 2 years

To date, Trustees have been appointed by direct contact and request. Term renewals will be actioned as an agenda item at the AGM. If necessary, we will advertise for new trustees with a minimum term of 3 years, as per the constitution.
