over a year ago and set out its intentions
within its website. The main aim was to
support grass roots level social projects
that generally were too small to become
charities in their own right. Apart from
word-of-mouth we contacted a number of
counsellors within inner London Boroughs
to ask that they put us in touch with
individuals or groups, in their areas who
were doing work of particular public benefit
and who would benefit from financial
support. Many replies were received and
initially the trustees interviewed prospective
applicants for financial support by video.
Once potential recipients were identified
the trustees then visited the place where
they were carrying out their projects to
confirm that the work they were doing was
essentially for the public benefit and was
effective and sustainable.

receipt of monthly awards over the past

A group offering support, counselling
and a forum, for young African women
suffering genital mutilation.

Two social workers who set up a small
charity needing financial support until
they can raise funds to create a total
support environment for homeless
people wishing to retrain.

A group of individuals who are
supplying food obtained from
supermarkets surplus and distributing it
