**Tiger Cubs Review of the Year for September 2024 – July 2025**

## **Staffing**

Maria Pomorska rejoined the staff team in January and we said goodbye to Mrs Dawborn in June. In July Miss Mary left us due to other commitments and Mrs Griffiths decided that it was the right time for her to retire. She had been with us since February 1998! Clare Nibloe remained as Manager and Rachel Nibloe as Deputy Manager/SENCO. The remaining members of the staff team were Chris Marriott, Claire Vinnicombe, Jan Baker and Glynis Riddle. Lesley Ellis continued as our Book Keeper and we are thankful for all her hard work taking care of our finances. We are very grateful for the hard work of our loyal, caring and committed staff team.

## **The Trustees**

- Cavan Wood is our chair of Trustees and Christine Clarke, Ali Steynor, Amy Mee, Lesley Ellis and Clare Nibloe are our other Trustees. Clare Nibloe is also the Nominated Person for Ofsted.

## **Other Events**

- Over the summer holidays the heating was replaced with underfloor heating by the church.

- In September we were delighted to be able to use our new log cabin which we named “The Hut”. After so many years of trying to get permission, it was lovely to be able to have a space outside that can be used in all weathers.

- During October half term the church had the windows in the Tiger Hall replaced.

- We celebrated Children in Need in November with all staff wearing Pudsey onesies and we even went out wearing them for Forest Friday!

- On 11[th] November, a group of the Tiger Cubs went to the War Memorial for the two-minute silence and to hear the last post.

- Our Christmas Party was extra special in December because Georgia’s inflatable ball dome was able to be with us. The children had so much fun.

- Our Nativity in December was ‘Christmas Counts’ and we held it in the church where there was more space for parents and grandparents to attend. The Café in the Tiger Lounge beforehand was very popular where parents and grandparents enjoyed refreshments including lovely homemade cakes.

- In January, we started a new topic based on Paddington Bear. We explored lots of themes through Paddington stories and each child had a turn at taking a Paddington toy home to have some adventures of their own.

- We had some very hot days in the Summer and were grateful to have the hut, as well as some new umbrellas and gazebos that we had fundraised for to provide more shade. We enjoyed lots of water play in the shade to help the children stay cool.

- In July, Mrs Vinnicombe’s sons, Toby and Henry, took part in a fundraiser at school and chose to donate the money they raised to Tiger Cubs. We used the money to buy a football goal, a football and a new story book.

- Throughout this academic year our staff have enjoyed dressing up but highlights include Miss Rachel and Mrs Marriott as Elsa and Anna, and Mrs Marriott as Aunt Lucy who joined the Tiger Cubs for lunch.

- We have enjoyed some musical visits throughout the academic year; Chris Steynor came and played his trumpet, and Peter Candy came in twice with his bagpipes.

- Our school leavers performed ‘Eddie the Penguin Saves the World’ and each school leaver got their own Tiger Cubs Leavers 2025 t-shirt. We presented our school leavers with their learning journals and a leaving gift.

## **Fund Raising**

- Fund raising continues to be an essential element to Tiger Cubs so that equipment can be updated or replaced as necessary. Fund raising/donations for this year were £1100.

Lastly, a big thank you to the church as it continues to support us year on year, and of course to the parents of Tiger Cubs, without whom we would not have such a great place to work.

## **Financial Report for Tiger Cubs Pre-School for the period to 31 July 2025.**

This is the financial report for Tiger Cubs from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025. As required by the Charities Commission, these accounts are reviewed by an independent examiner.

Our income this year was £115,601 made up of £23,055 for fees from parents, £89,790 from West Sussex Funding, £1,100 from Fundraising and donations and finally £1,656 from bank interest.

Our total costs were £138,664.

This was made up of fundraising costs of £304 such as the cost of Christmas party, Leaver T shirts and DVDs and fundraising items purchased £3,085 which included purchasing a new TV, fridge, installing electricity outside and parasols and gazebos as well as replacing smaller toys, books and equipment.

Pre-School Expenses of £3,729 and this includes craft supplies, cooking costs refreshments and cleaning costs.

Overheads were £8,582 and these include a contribution to All Saints Church for the use of the hall, insurance, stationery, subscriptions, licenses and DBS checks. This also included relaying the floor to the cabin and a base for the new shed. Our insurance costs also doubled on the previous year to £1,341.

Staff costs totalled £122,964.

## Excess of income over costs.

For the period to 31[st] July 2025, we made a loss of £23,063. This was mainly due to West Sussex paying the funding for the Autumn term 2025 in August 2025, whereas previously this was paid in the July.

## Statement of Assets & liabilities for the year.

At the end of the year, we had:

£344 in our current account, £16,000 in our deposit account and £30,712 in a 95 day deposit account.
