Tiger Cubs Review of the Year for September 2023 - July 2024
Staffing
- Chris Marriott joined us in November and Mrs Baker and Miss Mary Jennings (including her puppets Mr Monkey and Dr Croc) joined the team in February. We also said goodbye to Miss Fisk in February who took up a position at a local school. Mrs Egleton made the hard decision that the time was right for her to retire, and we said goodbye to her in July. She had been at Tiger Cubs since September 2000. Clare Nibloe remained as Manager and Rachel Nibloe took on the Deputy Manager/SENCO role in February. The remaining members of the staff team were Claire Vinnicombe, Carola Dawborn, Jackie Griffiths, and Glynis Riddle. Lesley Ellis continued as our Book Keeper and we are thankful for all her hard work taking care of our finances. We are very fortunate to have such a loyal, caring and committed staff.
The Trustees
- Cav Wood is our chair of Trustees and Christine Clarke, Ali Steynor, Amy Mee, Lesley Ellis and Clare Nibloe are our other Trustees. Since becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) in July 2023 Clare Nibloe is also the Nominated Person for Ofsted.
Other events
-
In September we had the sink in the upstairs toilet area replaced with a new double sink. This has made a big difference, allowing 2 children to wash their hands at the same time.
-
In October we replaced the sink in the downstairs toilet area with a new double sink as well.
-
We celebrated Children in Need in November with all staff wearing Pudsey onesies and we even went out wearing them for Forest Friday!
-
In December we were hit with a Chicken Pox wave, resulting in lots of our children being poorly and unable to be able to practice our Nativity play “Christmas Counts”. We took the decision to use the church for the performance where there was more space for parents and grandparents to attend. Fortunately, on the day of the Nativity, we were only missing a couple of children. The children did really well considering they hadn’t been able to do much practice.
-
In March, we celebrated World Book Day by looking at a different book each day for a week: Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Zog, The Hungry Caterpillar, Super Worm and Stick Man.
-
We celebrated Elmer day and Winnie the Pooh day with fun activities.
-
In May we had a visit from Lindfield’s Harbour Master, who dressed up in his uniform and told us all about the Bonfire Night Parade and Village Day Parade that he leads. He is the husband of one of our members of staff and grandad to a Tiger Cub, so it was a special visit.
-
We were finally granted planning permission in June to put up a log cabin in our outside area to replace the marquee that had been up since September 2020.
-
Throughout this academic year our staff have enjoyed dressing up and costumes have included; a penguin, banana, carrot, snowman, Bingo the dog, a dragon and knight. Our Tiger mascot has also made an appearance when we did the Tiger who came to tea.
-
Our school leavers performed ‘Eddie the Penguin Saves the World’ and each school leaver got their own Tiger Cubs Leavers 2024 t-shirt. We presented our school leavers with their learning journals and a leaving gift.
Fund Raising
- Fund raising continues to be an essential element to Tiger Cubs so that equipment can be updated or replaced as necessary. Fund raising/donations for this year were: Toy Sale £119, Nativity Café £192, Donations for Outside area £370.
Lastly, a big thank you to the church as it continues to support us year on year, and of course to the parents of Tiger Cubs, without whom we would not have such a great place to work.
