The club has been training volunteers as

swimming and life saving techniques in an
indoor swimming pool and beach sessions
practising swimming, board skills, rescue
techniques and first aid in the sea and on
the beach. Several volunteers have gained
Surf Life Saving National Vocational
Qualification and other Lifeguard
Qualifications.
Affiliation with the Surf Life Saving
Association Wales and other relevant
organisations ensure that the club stays
updated with the latest lifesaving methods
and best practices.
The club plans to provide coaching
opportunities in the sport of surf lifesaving.
Regular pool sessions in Bangor swimming
pool offer continuous coaching

initiative following the tragic drowning of a
local young woman. We continue to work
closely with her family, the local authority’s
Outdoor Activity Development Officer, the
Town Council, other sports and community
organisations, Conwy Harbourmaster’s Office,
and the RNLI to promote water safety and
support our coastal community.
Our partnership with Ffit Conwy has
strengthened, providing a clear progression
pathway from Swim Safe sessions into regular
club activity. The club also remains affiliated
with Surf Life Saving Association Wales, Sport
Conwy, and The Outdoor Partnership,
ensuring high standards in training and
development.
This year, the club undertook its first
voluntary patrol, supporting Surfers Against
Sewage during their Paddle Out event in
Llanfairfechan. Building our operational
capacity further, three members gained their
NVBLQ Level 3 Lifeguard qualification, and
two achieved the Level 2 Beach Lifesaver
Award. A structured programme is now in
place to train new volunteers and revalidate
existing lifeguards.
Our Club Open Evening attracted over 60
participants and successfully launched regular
sea-based sessions for Adults, Juniors, and
Nippers. We also delivered Water Safety
outreach sessions as part of the local primary
school’s summer activity camp, reaching 30
young people and their support staff.
We are grateful to the Sailing Club for
providing storage for our boards, supported
by racking generously donated by local
businesses. Our social media channels were
established and actively maintained
throughout the year, helping us share club
updates and promote key water safety
messages.| Funding from the UK Prosperity Fund and the Dŵr Anafon Fund was fully utilised, with the local volunteer bureau recognising the project as an example of best practice and expressing an interest in using it as a case study. We also extend our thanks to Llanfairfechan Women’s Institute for their support; they raised £350 towards club surf caps, and in return our volunteers delivered a water safety information session for their members. Working with the Community Library, the club also provided a talk as part of the Warm Hub programme. To support safe and effective operations, five members completed the RYA VHF Radio course, enabling radio communications to become part of our standard procedures. We continue to develop and update our policies and Standard Operating Procedures, alongside maintaining robust IT systems, safeguarding training, and DBS checks. The club held its first Christmas Party this year, welcoming not only members but also the many individuals and organisations who have supported our work. As at the 31stMarch 2025 the clubs cash
position remained strong with a closing bank
balance of £5216.36.
The total income for the year was £5,552 made
up of grants from Dwr Anafon totalling £2,500
and Co-op £1,793.16, along with a donation of
£300 and membership, pool and beach fees.
Expenses for the year totalled £1498 including
general purchases, pool and room hire costs,
training and subscriptions.
The restricted funds totalling £11,108 were
spent in accordance with the grant providers
terms. One set of items originally quoted for
were cheaper to purchase and therefore there
is a small balance of £56 left as a reserve.
Note: Pool Fees for the period totalling £485.10
were not accounted for in these accounts as
the cheques were not cashed until after the
