In addition. there was a course called °Big Questions. BigAnswers" which was attended by some from the churches and some who were searchingfor answers and ittoo. wa5 well attended and appreciated. We have seen some growth in OUT congregations. especiallyforthe 60'tlock seNice which attracts people who are not so famikn'arwith church services. °The Chosen. has continued to be shown in the Fordingbridge and the parish produced and psented a pLay"ReveLation- a glimpse of heaven" in St Mary's Church. thi5 attracted manyfriends and neighbour5; it was attended by Bishop Philip Mounstephen. There is a church magazine which reachesjust over 150 households in Hyde- it is distributed by members ofthe church and 0ftheVder community. DuTlng 2025 Frogham Fairwas made very popular by the presence of an aeroplane. courtesy of MAF. The Mission attended both the Fail and the Tent SeNice on the following day and spoke about its work in getting medical and other needs to inaccessible parts of the world as well as takingthem the good news of Jesus Chtist. The parish continues to seNe the two church schools where members present"Open the Book" and take regular assemblies. Messy Church continued at Hyde until September. when sadly it stopped because of changes to the school's *nap-around-care"_we are looking for a wayto continue wtth the contact in differentways and maybe different times. Holiday activitie5 for children are run in Fordingbridge under the auspices of the AVCM. MINISTERIAL DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE: In 2025 we were blessed to receive new members into the ministry team. In June, Ruth CrosLand and Vicky Semple were ordained to the priesthood and have continued with us as curates in the Parish. In June 2025 Alex Sains was ordained Deacon and continued within the parish as curate and deacon. Julian Sims will be ordained in June 2026. In addition. Julie Francis continues to explore God's calling upon her life. and has undertaken the Bishop's Pemission to Preach course. The parish also has many people who have received the Bishop'5 Commission to seNe in a variety of areas of ministry. including pastoral, worship- leadin& prayer and care of the environment- many others continue to seek to seNe God in both newways and old. At Ftyde plans were agreed for new glass doorsatthe main entrance and the contractorwas employed for the work to be commenced in 2026. Thoughtwas also giventothe agingaudio $teM wth a wewto its replacement. The churchyard is maintained by reguiarvoluntarygroups as well as malntenance ofthe grass and hedges duringthe summer months by a Local contractor. DEANERY SYNOD The AVC has four members on the Deanery Synod whlch is a link betyleen our PCC and the Dlocesan Synod. Its role is mainlyto look after mlssion and pastoral matters in the Deanery. help parishes deliver the Dlocesan strategic prioritie5 andto monitor and support the aiiocatlon of Parfish Share across the Deanery to the Common Mlssion Fund. Christchurch DeaneryQd metthreetime5 in 2025. in Febwary. June and October. In Februarywe welcomed the new Bishop of Southampton. Blshop Rhlannon Klngto St Marylhe Vlrgln Bransgore. Itwas a wonderful opportunityio gei to know her and hear hervery inspiiingtaikwhich Included highlightlngthe power of prayer. In June at Eltingham thefocuswas on finance the presentation of a Dlocesan Financial brieffng by Alistair Barron and MarkTeahanfrorrbthe Diocese. The Deaneryalso passed a motion to tske to Diocesan Synod.. Christchurch Deanery Syno(I calls upon Diocesan Synod to adoptthe strategyset oul in the paper CrossingtheThreshoLd. a Hereford DioceseToolkft, and conslderthe Use ofchurch Building5 as CommunityAssets. AVON VALLEY CHURCHES REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025 DEANERY SYNOD (CONTINUED) The meetlng In October at St Marfs Fordingbridge heard an InlomiatNe tslkfrom Jemima Lewis (Head of Communications and Engagement forthe Diocese) on howto maximise our communications potential. followed by an update on Kinkiizi by the Klnkilzl Action Group Chair. GIllTybje after her recent vislt there. The Deanery overseas linkwith Kinkllzl Diocese Uganda continues to thrNe. The project chosen to support in 2025 was construction of teacher5. weeknight accommodation to ease transport problems to the remote Vilge of Bwanja. £8000 was raised and building began in September. In total £8540 was donated to Kinkiizi. including support for retired priests. During 2025 there have been a number of parishes in vacancy. Some appointments have been made and newclergy now begin lo make a dltterence in those places. We have also said goodbye to Rev Canon Charles Siewart who retired from Christchurch and Rev Dr Ben Sargentwho moved on from New Forest Edge Benefice. We are still awaiting the appointmerrt of an A8 Dean. Deanery Synod meetings are now all open meetings foranyone to attend should they sowish. (Only if a vote is called are restrictions in place for elected members onlyto cast such a vote.) I would encourage everyone to consider coming along to hear interesting speakers. have a chance to meet other people from across the Deanery. and to share experiences lor mutual support. GiUTybjerg (Deanery Secretary) FINANCIAL REVIEW The church office manages allthe centralfunds while each local church area has tts own assistant treasurerwho manages the fundsforthat LCK The parish treasurer has an oveNiew of all the funds and is responsible forcheckingthe centralfund and for consolidating allthe accounts atthe end of the financial year. The PCC aims to have a reserve5 policyof keeping a balance of at least 3 months in unrestricted funds. The paTish has been granted a reduction in the requested CMF and is now in the third year of the PToposed'Ylight plan". In 2025 the parish was asked to paythe Teduced amount of 81,742.45 and this wa5 exceeded, betause St MarVs. FoTdingbridge was able to pay more aftertheir°Generous Giving" campaign. In 2026 we viill be asked to paythe reduced amount of £90.137.30 and we betieve that the Parish will be able to meetthat request. (continued on next pagel

Fordingbridge has continued with their programme ofwork- another£44,000-which has come from the designaied fund for that purpose. Hyde began preparation for new Wass doors and made two payments totaling £7,8181S0% of the final costl also from money fted forthat purpose. Hale has continued with fundraising forfurther roof-work needed. As always, the increasing age of our congregations means that the biggest financial risk is a reduction In regular income due to smaller congregations. There is also too great a dependence on the generosity of a few. The PCC would like to give specialthanks to all the localtreasurers for theirwork during the year and. in particular, to the Hyde local treasurerwho has done so much towards preparing the final accounts forthe year. The PCC would also like to thank Zoe Goddard for her indefatigable work in the office. for keepingthe central accounts in order and always smiling. VOLuNfEERS We would like tothank all the volunteerswho make it possible forthe churchesto continue to be effective places of worship and outreach. We would also liketo thank ourwonderful team of retired clergy and the lay ministryteam who have worked with the rectorto seNe all the churches and provide the welcoming ministry in them.
