Cherwell Canoe Club Charity Registration Number 1201741 Trustees Annual Report for the Period 27[th] January 2023 - 31[st] December 2023

Principal Office Address

Astwick Farm Cottages, Croughton, Brackley, NN13 5LL

Trustees

Trustees are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting. The members or the trustees may appoint a new trustee at any time provided that the limit on the number of trustees is not exceeded.

The CIO had the following three trustees throughout the period to 31[st] December 2024, Andrew Dancer, Patrick Reynolds and Mark Thomas.

Governing Document

CIO Association Constitution dated 27[th] January 2023.

Objectives and Activities, Achievements and Performance

The object of the CIO is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the public benefit by the provision of facilities and coaching in canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding and any other related paddle sport.

The club has hired swimming pools to run introductory and improver kayaking courses, ongoing general training, canoe polo training and competitions. The club has also run recreational paddling trips locally and in Devon and Wales including placid water, white water trips and a kayak surfing weekend. Canoe polo competition entries around the UK and abroad have been facilitated.

These have been for the benefit not only of our members, but also members of other clubs and for wider family groups and others.

The Trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission.

Financial Review

The charity has adequate funds and reserves at the end of 2023 to continue it’s services.

Reserves are held to allow for facilities and events to be booked before the associated income is received and to allow for fluctuations in that income. Funds are also held for improving storage arrangements for water craft and equipment. Discussions with the local authority, as site owners, are protracted so there is no likely date yet for this work. £10,000 is held in reserve.

No funds are held as custodian trustee on behalf of others.

Declaration

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.

Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees
