Purpos8'.
The charity's purpose, as outlined in its governing document, is to advance the religion of Islam, primarily within the
boroughs of Merton, Sutton, Kingston, and surrounding areas. This is achieved through activities such as prayer
meetings, providing education, and charitable services that promote the key pillars of Islam.
Activitias and Achi8vam&nts
Throughout 2023, the New Malden MLJslim Association INMMAI actively worked towards ftjlfilling ils ¢haritable
objectives. The Trustees believe that the activities listed below have not only benefited those who engage with our
programmes bul have a150 POs11ivety impacted the wder community. NMMA 15 also commilled to various fundraising
and charitable acliwties in support of the local ¢ommLJnity and beyond.
Key activities and achievements for the year include-
Ragular Friday Jummah Prayors.. NMMA provided weekly Jummah prayers, offering a space for spiritual reflection
and community gathering. Guest speakers were invited lo address a range of topics, including both religious and
contemporary issues. contributing to the spiritual growih of the congregation.
Boys Youth Club.. The Boys Youth Club aimed to nurture leadership, teamwork, and good values in a safe
environment. Through social, edu¢ation81, and recreational activities, ytsung boys were encouraged lo develop a
strong sense of community and responsibility
Girls Youth Club." The Girls Youth Club provided similar opportunities for young females, ¢realing a supportive and
inclusive space where they could engage in activrties designed to build confidence and friendship. The club also
hosted special workshops on topics relevant to youth, contributing to their personal and spiritual development
Emaan Explorers Madrasah.. A major milestone for NMMA in 2023 was the launch of the Emaan Explorers
Madrasah. This educational initiative offers Islamic education lo children, leaching Quran, Islamic studies, and moral
values. The madrasah is structured lo ¢ater lo diffe￿nt age grtsups, prowding a nurturing and engaging environment
for young learners to develop spiritually and academically.
Summer Community Event.. NMMA hosted a vibrant Summer Community Event, bringing together individuals and
families from diverse backgrounds. The event featured an array of activits'es designed to engage all age groups,
including food stalls offering a variety of deliciou5 Ireals, mocktail 5talion5, and henna painting. Children enjoyed the
bouncy castle, arts and crafts, and face painting, while the community connected over shared experiences. This event
not only provided fun and entertainment but also fostered a sense of unity and promoted cross-cultural understanding
ilhin the local community.
Girls Ramadan Workshop.. During the holy month of Ramadan, NMMA organised a special workshop for girfs,
focusing on the spiritual and practical aspects of fasting, prayer, and charity. The workshop included interactive
discussions and activities designed to deepen the participants, understanding of Ramadan and its significance.
Tarawih (Night Prayers).. As a one-off event during Ramadan, NMMA held Tarawh prayers, providing the community
ilh the opportunity lo perform these special night prayers in congregalitsn. fostering a deep sense of spirituality and
communal worship during this sacred time.
Weekly Men's Running Club." In line with our goal of promoting physical well-being, NMMA launched a weekly men's
running dub. This initiative encouraged members of the community to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, while
also providing an opportunity for men to bond and strengthen social ties.
Our focus remains on ensuring the continued quality of our servi¢e$, while striving for improvements. As we strengthen
our existing programmes, we wll also explore opportunities for future expansion to better support our communty. We
a￿ pleased with the progress made in achieving our objectives and are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our
volunteers, donors, and community members.

The trustees regularfy assess the risks facing the charity, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to mitigate
these risks. They are satisfied that adequate systems exist to manage identified risks and that strategic, business, and
operational risks are under control.
Investment Powers and Financial Management
The in¢ome and assets of the charity are useil exclusively for (ts charitable purposes, in line wlh the Iruslees,
approval. The charity employs prudent financial management pra¢li¢es Its ernSU￿ that funds are allocated effectively lo
achieve its objectives. This includes regular monitoring of income and expenditLJre, as well as maintaining transparent
financial recoids. The Iruslees review the organisalion's finances periodically to assess the charity's financial he8￿h
and make informed decisions regarding resource allocation. Additionally, any investments made by the charity are in
a¢¢ordan¢e with ethical guidelines and are aimed at generating sustainable income lo support Its activities.

As at 31 December 2023, the charity's financial position is as follows..
Totsl unrestricted fund of the charity was £79,791 12022 £50,219). The Iruslees are committed to maintaining an
adequate level of reserves in accordance with Gharily Commission guidance, aiming lo hold reserves equivalent to six
months, running costs.

The trustees confirm their responsibility for selecting appropriate accounting policies, observing the principles of the
Charities SORP, and preparing the financial statements on a going concem basis. They are also respcinsible for
maintaining accurate accounting records and safeguarding the charty's assets.

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2023, which are sel out on pages 7 10 11.
Respoctive Rosponsibilitigs of Trustges and Examiner
The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required
for this year under section 144121 of the Charities Act 2011lthe 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is
needed.
Having satisfied mysew that the charity is not subject lo audit under charity act and is eligible for independent

Basis of Independent Examiner's Report
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An
examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. 11 also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and
seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide
all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as lo whether the accounts
present a 'lrue and fair view, and the report is limited lo those matters sel out in the statement below.

1. Accounting Policies
1.1 Basis of Accounting
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in
accordance with the applicable Accounting Standards , the Statement of Recommended Practice
Accounting and Reporting by Charities published in March 2005. The principal accounting policies
adopted in the preparation of the financial
statements are set out below.
1.2 Incoming Resources
Voluntary income and donations are included in incoming resources when they are
receivable, except when the donors specify that they must be used in future accounting
periods or donors, conditions have not been fulfilled, then the income is
deferred. The income from fundraising ventures is shown gross. with the associated
costs included in fundraising costs.
1.3 Resources Expended
Resources expended are included in the Statement of Financial Activities on accruals basis, excluded
of VAT where applicable.
Expenditure that is directly allributable lo specific activities has been included in these cost
categories. Where costs are allributable lo more than one activity, they have been apportioned
across the cost categories on a basis consistent with the use
of those reSoUr￿s.
1.4 Going Concern Basis
The financial stslements have been prepared on the going concern basis, as in the
opinion of the trustees, there are no issues arising which would suggest any other basis as being more
appropriate.
1.5 Depreciation
Depreciation is provided using the following rates and bases to reduce by annual
inslalmenls the cost, less estimated residual value, of tangible assets over the
eslimaled useful lives where applicable.
