**Objects:** TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN ALL SUBJECT MATTERS RELATING TO SHIPS AND SHIPPING, THE LANGUAGE AND CUSTOMS OF SEAFARING AND ANY OTHER SUBJECTS OF NAUTICAL AND MARITIME INTEREST BY PROMOTING RESEARCH AND TO PUBLISH THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH.

**Activities:** South West Maritime History Society was founded in 1984. Its aims are to encourage interest in all aspects of our maritime heritage and to promote research in these fields, leading where possible to the publication of the result of such studies. We hold a number of meetings each year throughout the South West Region, enabling our members and friends to visit many places of maritime interest.
