Terpsichoring CIO – Annual Report of the Trustees for the period ending 31[st] March 2025
Objectives and activities
The objects of Terpsichoring CIO are:

For the public benefit, the advancement of arts, culture, heritage by creating, developing, performing and touring works of performance including the arts of dance, drama, physical theatre, mime, singing, music, puppetry, visual art, digital arts.

To promote, maintain, improve and advance education in the public benefit by developing and delivering cultural activities aiming to educate, raise awareness and/ or stimulate conversation about the protection of the environment.
During the year, Terpsichoring delivered its first series of workshops for children and families, using dance and drama to engage participants in thoughtful and positive conversations about climate change, climate justice, and practical exploration of how each person can make a difference. Outside of the workshops, the activities undertaken to further the charity’s purposes for the public benefit focused on continuing to develop internal structures and processes, and planning future work.
The trustees confirm that in all activities to date, they have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Achievements and performance
Terpsichoring CIO delivered a series of workshops for children and families in York, culminating in a very successful programme as part of York Environment Weeks in October.
Due to ill health of a key volunteer, the hoped-for work during the spring term could not take place. However, this will be rescheduled as soon as is practicable.
Preparations are in hand to apply for several small grant funds, and Terpsichoring CIO is making plans to deliver further public performances and workshops. Behind the scenes, the charity has continued its work to develop and adopt key policies and procedures.
Financial review
Terpsichoring CIO was very grateful to receive its first grant during the year: £500 from the Sylvia & Colin Shepherd Charitable Trust. This was instrumental in enabling the charity to deliver its work during the year.
Trustees have determined that Terpsichoring CIO will consider adoption of an appropriate policy regarding the holding of reserves during the coming year (2025 – 26). They have decided that holding reserves is unnecessary at this stage given the limited income of the charity.

Trustees have no reason to believe that there is any uncertainty at the present time about the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern.
Structure, governance and management
Terpsichoring CIO is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, governed by its Constitution which is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
The charity recruits and appoints new charity trustees in line with the provision outlined for this in its Constitution, namely:

(1) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.

(2) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.

Two of Terpsichoring CIO’s founding trustees, Dylan George and Katherine Veysey, stood down during the year due to other commitments. We remain grateful for their involvement, and were pleased to appoint John Cossham as a new Trustee. The charity therefore ended the year with three trustees:
