## **Trustees' Annual Report**

**From:** 1st August 2023 **To:** 31st July 2024 **Charity's full name** Tang Hall Employment **Registered Charity number** 1201632

## **Objectives and activities**

## **Summary of the purposes of the charity set out in its governing document**

The purposes of the charity are the relief of unemployment for the benefit of the public in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance and support to find employment, particularly among people who are disadvantaged due to long term experience of homelessness and or addiction, people with a learning disability, and those otherwise facing significant barriers to finding employment.

## **Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts**

In its first year of operation the charity worked with 9 individuals. From this number, 4 were from a background of homelessness, and 5 were young adults with additional needs such as a learning disability and/or autism.

The trustees consider that they have complied with their duties to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.

## **Achievements and performance**

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.**

In January 2024, 2 of these, (from a background of homelessness) were ready to take up permanent paid contracts of work elsewhere. A further 1 who has a learning disability and also cerebral palsy was offered a permanent contract of work starting September 2024. A fourth supported employee, a young man with autism, left the charity September 2024 to go to university. This has left 5 of the original cohort still working with the charity (we have added 3 more to start September 2024 and are supporting one with selfemployment).

We learned that more work is needed developing transferable skills so that supported employees are equipped to apply for work that is not limited to the music and arts industries. To this end we intend to supply job coaching geared towards external employers and not just Tang Hall SMART.

## **Independent Examiner's Report on the Accounts**

I report on the accounts of the CIO: **Tang Hall Employment** for the period ended **31st July 2024** which are set out on pages 5 to 7.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the CIO accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the "2011 Act") and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act), and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner's report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements;

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met; or

- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
