Chairperson's Report for Stamshaw Schools PATCH (Registered Charity 1201614) Date: 13/03/2025
-
It is with great pleasure that I present the Chairperson’s report for the year, reflecting on our collective successes, challenges, and the continued dedication of everyone involved with Stamshaw Schools PATCH. As ever, our mission to support local children and families remains at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to have made a positive impact on our community, but we also acknowledge the areas where we can continue to improve.

Community Engagement and Recognition
-
One of the highlights of this year was being shortlisted for a Portsmouth Volunteer Award, recognising the work of PATCH in partnership with The Hive. This nomination was a testament to the hard work and commitment of our volunteers, who are at the heart of all that we do. We are incredibly proud of this recognition and it serves as a reminder of the difference we are making in the lives of the children and families we serve.

Successes
This year has been full of achievements, and we are thrilled to report several key successes:
-
Summer Fête: Once again, our Summer Fête was a huge success, drawing a fantastic crowd and raising vital funds for our programmes. The community came together to enjoy a fun day filled with activities, stalls, and entertainment, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
-
1st Christmas Fayre at the Infants: Our first Christmas Fayre at the Infant School was a massive success. The event was a hit with families, creating a wonderful festive atmosphere and helping to build stronger connections within the community.
-
Santa's Grotto: As always, Santa’s Grotto proved to be incredibly popular, bringing joy to children and families alike. It was a great way to create lasting memories for our community while raising funds for our charity.
-
Circus: The Circus event was a fantastic addition to our calendar. Although it was dependent on the success of the accompanying fayre to raise a profit, it was still a great experience for those who attended, and we look forward to exploring similar events in the future.

Struggles and Areas for Improvement
While there is much to celebrate, we have also faced some challenges throughout the year:

-
Volunteer Support: Our biggest struggle this year has been around volunteer support. As an organisation, we rely heavily on the dedication of our volunteers, and the increasing demand for our services has highlighted the need for more help. While we have an incredibly committed team, the pressures of organising large events and maintaining ongoing programmes have sometimes stretched our resources. Moving forward, we will be focusing on strategies to recruit and retain more volunteers, ensuring we have the support needed to continue our work effectively.
-
Fundraising and Donations
We are extremely grateful for the ongoing generosity of our donors and supporters. This year’s fundraising efforts, including community events and business partnerships, have been crucial in enabling us to continue providing essential services and resources to local schools. These funds have supported a wide range of initiatives, from educational supplies to extracurricular programmes, ensuring that we can continue our work throughout the year. 5. Acknowledgements
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our trustees, volunteers, and staff members for their tireless dedication. Without your hard work, commitment, and passion, none of our successes would be possible. I would also like to thank the local schools, community organisations, and businesses that have supported our work – your collaboration is invaluable.
- Looking Forward
Looking ahead to the next year, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We will continue to strengthen our community ties, review our volunteer strategy, and seek new ways to raise funds for our projects. We are also committed to improving our communication and outreach efforts to ensure we can engage with even more families in the Stamshaw area.
We are confident that, with your continued support, we can build on the momentum we’ve gained and make an even greater impact in the year to come. Thank you once again to everyone who has supported us – we look forward to working together to make a difference in the lives of local children and families. Yours sincerely,
Tanya Stevens
