Structure, Governance and Management
The charity is governed by its Constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The trustee selection is based on the individual being a committed Christian with the skills, knowledge and experience to administer the church effectively. Every trustee is appointed by a resolution passed in a meeting of the charity trustees.
Objectives and Activities
We aim to advance the Christian faith and to advance education of the Christian faith as set out in the Constitution.
In planning our activities for the year, we have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit. We conduct regular Sunday worship and prayer meetings; preaching the way Christians should live through biblical teaching; learning the Gospel; building up their knowledge and trust in God; to enable people to have an intimate relationship with God and to live according to the teaching of the Christian faith.
Achievements and Performance
SCCC are committed to provide a variety of Christian-based services throughout the year and by participation our community find them spiritually beneficial and enlightening.
Our regular Sunday services welcome all to attend. During these services, the participants can draw close to the Lord through singspiration, prayer and listen to the sermons which give them direction and meaning of life to enable them to have wisdom and strength to live each day.
Our children Sunday school classes offer children aged from 3 to 14 years old to attend, which has attracted on average about 21 children attending regularly throughout this year. Besides biblical teachings through stories, there are also times for play and singing, handicrafts and drawings for the children to do, which consolidate the teachings made. The Sunday school teachers trained by the pastor’s wife have been gradually taken up the planning and teaching roles under her supervision. An experienced Sunday school teacher, Carman Chu, contributed at various time to the teaching of our children and youths in the church.
Different bible study groups are being held each week to meet different needs of adults and youths in the church, such as basic Christianity knowledge; Alpha Course; discipleship training, etc.
Pastoral care is provided to those people in need, such as emotional health problems, family problems and the old people.
An usher team and a singspiration team set up last year serve the church effectively.
Pastors Hon Kwan Chan and Tim Ng have been regularly preaching via Zoom to our church congregation on a monthly basis and conducting bible studies through out the year.
Pastor Hon Kwan Chan and his wife, Kai Tai and Pastor Tass came to visit our church on 22/9/2024.
Various festivities celebrations were carried out at various times during the year, including the Mother’s Day; Father’s Day; Mid-autumn festival; Christmas, and brother George’s 90[th] birthday.
Pastor Eric conducted a funeral service in June for a member of the congregation, Mr. Yip.
An outing to the Rudyard Lake was arranged and taken place for the families of the church during the year and every participant had thoroughly enjoyed these trips.
The highlight of the year was the baptism of two believers held at Light Church on 27/10/2024.
Due to the closure of the Fenton Baptist Church, we had our last Sunday service there on 23/2/2025. Our new Sunday service venue started at St. Matthew’s Church on 2/3/2025.
Financial Review
At the present moment, we do not have a policy on reserves. However, this will be considered in due course by the trustees. To make use of the funds available, the trustees are seeking to purchase a property to be used by a pastor with the aim of developing the ministry further.
Volunteers
We would like to thank all volunteers who have contributed so much to the day-to-day operation of the church, without which the church will find it difficult to achieve its aims and objectives.
Declaration
The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees' report above.
