The Trustees of ICRP present the annual report for the year 6[th] January 2025 to 6[th] January 2026.

1. Introducton

The last 12 months has seen further caseloads, many of which requiring specialist intervention. Our volunteers have been busy with the fundraising and event planning, but it has been interesting to develop further knowledge on We are certain feline conditions and to see the advancement in feline medicine. pleased to say, our planned project of installing more isolation pods went ahead and we now have another 6, double size veterinary pods which meet the standards of the DEFRA regulations.

The charities activities and objectives are:

To relieve the suffering of stray/feral cats in need of care and attention by providing a safe rescue or foster space for the cats to receive vital veterinary care and to seek homes for rescued cats.

2. Operatonal Actvity

As in previous years, the demand for our services is continuing to increase, this is due to the cost-of-living crisis that is affecting the UK.

We are proud to be able to help the public in the following ways-

Being a contact for the local community and surrounding areas if we can accommodate, local authorities and veterinary clinics if they require assistance or rescue space for a stray.
Providing a neutering service for feral cats to help to help reduce the feline overpopulation crisis which the UK is facing.
Offering rescue backup to adopters if circumstances were to change.
Providing guidance and advice to cat owners to promote better welfare for domestic cats and carrying out educational talks where asked.

2.1 Stray Cats:

Our focus this year is on stray and feral cats as unfortunately, the amount of cats being abandoned and left to stray is still increasing. Around the areas we cover, the cat abandonment problem is worsening. Most of the stray’s the charity take in are in poor condition. They are checked by a veterinary professional at time of intake and assessed in rescue so we can determine their needs for the near future.

2.2 Feral Cats:

At ICRP, we are proud to be involved in several TNR schemes, also known as TRAP, NEUTER, RELEASE/RELOCATE.

TNR is essential to ensure the health and safety of feral cats across the country, to reduce the risk of cats contracting FIV/FeLV from fighting and it’s the moat effective way of maintaining the feline overpopulation issue.

A feral cat will be humanely trapped in purpose made cat traps, they will then be fully assessed under anaesthetic, neutered and microchipped by a veterinary surgeon. We opt for microchipping rather than ear tipping due to our belief that ear tipping gives the cat something extra to recover from. The only time we’ll opt for it, is when dealing with a large colony so the cat isn’t retrapped to limit stress.

If a feral was in an unsafe environment/location or didn’t have an adequate food supply, we work with farmers and owners of small holdings or stables to get the cats safely relocated to areas they’ll be well cared for. The welfare of every cat is essential, and we take great care to ensure all welfare needs are met.

2.3 Euthanasia Policies:

Sadly, despite trying our best and exhausting all options for every cat that enters our care, some are just too poorly to save. Euthanasia would be carried out if the animal’s pain was uncontrollable and was affecting their quality of life, each animal is monitored case-by-case and euthanising an animal would only take place if a veterinary surgeon decided that this was the most

appropriate course of action. This allows them to go with dignity and relieves them from any further unnecessary suffering.

3. Fundraising Events:

The charity continues to rely heavily on fundraising events as a source of income. This year we attended local events such as Prestwich Clough Day and Prestwich Carnival, these events also help us promote neutering, encourage members of the public to adopt or foster or gain further support for the charity. The fundraising team organise the events for ICRP, this year we held a Summer Fair and a Christmas Fair including some smaller raffles during the year such as the annual Easter raffle which is popular. Overall, this has been a success with the Christmas Fair raising the most we’ve ever raised. It’s also lovely for our team to engage with supporters in person.

4. Partnerships and Main Donators:

We are pleased that Pets at Home Trafford Park have chosen us to remain as their charity partner for 2026. This allows us to take part in appeals, fundraise and promote the charity in-store.

5. Communicaton:

The charity engages with the public on our social media pages and the website. The Facebook page which currently has over 7,000 members, is the main source of communication. We use this to promote the cats that are up for adoption, to announce events, to show the public the cats currently in rescue and provide regular updates and as a main source of fundraising.

6. Plans for 2026/27

In 2025, the isolation pens were purchased and are now in a specific room in our founder’s home, which the rescue is run from. Our upcoming plan is to convert the garage into a large space to run the charity from and expand on the

number of pens we have, which will extend the number of cats that can come into rescue at a time. The previous pens were closed off as they are now unfit for purpose. Over the course of the next year, more fundraising events are in the process of being planned and we hope to further promote the charity and its work.

Our trustee’s will begin the process of applying for funding support.

7. Financial review

2025 was fairly similar in terms of fundraising and spending – income was c £54k in year. It was pleasing to be able to fund new pens for the rescue. All of our expenditure remains as vet bills.

8. Governance and management

The Trustee’s meet bi-monthly to review the financial and operational activity, the trustee meetings are the team’s main decision-making forum. Minutes are documented and signed off by the trustees as a true and accurate record. They are then filed electronically.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Independent Cat Rescue Prestwich (1201520) I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2025 which are set out on the following page. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner. The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does rK)t apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
