North West Miners Heritage Association Annual Trustee Report December2023December 2024 The Association has conducted many educational activities during this year including the following 1. visits to local schools where ex miners dressed in Miners outfits and answered questions about life underground and used artefacts to illustrate the history of mining in St Helens. 2. Talks to local Brownie and Rainbow Groups both at their Group venues and at the Site of the Dream 3. Led Walk and Talk events at the Site of The Dream including support to people on “access to work”. 4. Attended Community Events with a stall with information and artefacts including the Heritage Day at the Town Hall which involved discussion with many members of the Community of Mining Heritage of the Town. 5. Produced two new Banners representing the Heritage of local Pits Clock Face and Bold. Also produced commemorative badges for local pits. We produced a key ring with our Charity number on. 6. Held a Commemorative event with a Theatre Company to remember the 40[th] Anniversary of the Miners Strike and the effects on the local community. Also produced a commemorative badge for this. 7. Developed partnerships relationships with the Councils Heritage and Arts Service and conducted a Heritage story telling project across the town recording the stories of miners and their families and developing resources with schools. 8. Continued to build the resources available to support the work of the association buying appropriate memorabilia and receiving artefacts from families. 9. Undertook an Easter Egg Hunt and Father Christmas Community visits to engage with the former mining community and communicate the community values of the Mining Community. - 10.Displayed the Banners at a range of Community events including the Annual Commemoration of those who have lost their lives at work. Also, at the launch of a new Community Arts space. - 11.Have continued to organise reunions of former miners and keep them informed on relevant issues and have taken the Banners to display at the Funerals of ex Miners to show respect and solidarity and condolence from the wider mining community. - 12.Have continued to network, visit and support the work of the National Mining Museum and the Lancashire Mining Museum who have also supported our activities. - 13.We are also developing more partnership working with the Coalfields Communities Trust. - 14.We applied for a grant to the British Council to work with local artists and refugee women on heritage with the Palestinian Heritage Museum in East Jerusalem but were unsuccessful and are considering an alternative way to take this work forward. - 15.We sponsored local sports teams and Clock Face Miners Band. - 16.We also lay wreaths at the Cenotaphs in The Town Centre and Earlestown to commemorate Miners and have ensured a local commemorative plaque was preserved. - 17.We have developed new policies for the association on Bullying and Harassment; Conflict of Interest and Expenses. - 18.We attended VCA training on Safeguarding and ensured we have up to date policies. **Charity Name No (if any) Northwest Miners Heritage Association Receipts and payments accounts CC16a For the period** Period start date Period end date **3/31/2024 from** 12/20/2022 3/31/2024 |**Section A Receipts and payments**||||| |---|---|---|---|---| |**A1 Receipts**
