As Chair of the Trustee Bo8Td l am pleased to report that 2024 has been a successful yeai for Cancel Active Recovery Support. Following a successful first year the ch8rity Can¢erActive Recover Support has made important pfogress during 2024. Tru$tée Board In accordance with Ihe con$tituts"on quarterly meetings have been held bythe Truste8 Board.d The Trustee Board has seen chang#s vthich ieflect the need for greater resilience and speclflc expertise nowthat Cancer Active Recovory Support is growing. The BoBrd Is lookln8 at malnialnlngflrm loundatlons to ensur8 thal luture 4rowth can be effectively rnanaged. Following the unexpected resignations ol first the Secretary ond then the Tre8surer { for peT8onal rea30n3 which th8 Board understood) the Trustee Board has been actively seeking new trusltas. Despite the challenges finding newtrustees has posed. a newTreasurer, David Smlth, Is now in post. A h8ndover period took place during which he undertook trusiee iraining and he is now fully conv8rsant wlth tho role. Additionally, it has been recognised Ihal busine$s str¥tegy 1$ becoming Increaslngly Import8nt to the ¢hArrty 0$ It expand$. Ai the time of vrtitin8 this report a further trustee, Deboroh Rennison. has been appointed to over58e the business development. The Board is st511 lookingto appointfundraising trustees.a social media and marketlngtrust89 and a now secretarytrustee. The filling of these roles remains a priority for 2025. As Trustee Chair I have represented Cancer Active Recovery Support. In partieuiar I have attended multl 8gency meetings wth the Ioc81 VCSE 2nd NHS He81th board to explore opportunilies for the charity sector to assist the NHS in delivering 8¢rvices under the 10 year plan. Representatives sof Cancer Active Recovery Support have al80 attended multi-agency events promoting healthcare and well beingthroughout 2024.
Funding The charity has exp8fTrded and made huge progress due to fLsnding opporlur)itie5 8nd collaborative worki'ng with charity and corporate bodie5 including Macmillan Can¢er. Severn TrentW8ter 8nd Cadent. In particular, the funding from S$vem Trent Wat8r has enabled thé ch8Tity to fund part-time posts, to cover 8dminsstr8110n and social media work. Thls Is 8 slgnlfic8nt move for CancerActive Recovery Support- th8se roles h8ve enabled considerable progress to be made in promoting the charity and raising public aworeness ond also in moving the ch81ity's role in providing support onto Ihe next level. Cancer Active Recovery Support 15 proud that the charity. although stiii re18tivelyyoung, has been recognised lor the work being donè 818 Ioc81 level by Macmillan Cancer Support . The collaborative working and funding by Macmi118n Cancer Support is important. not only for ihe funding. bul also in providing eviderte Ihat the Charity is being recognisèd as h8ving a role to play in the provision of local support by a well known national charty. As 8 ch8rity, C?ncef Actlve Recovery Support is keen to continue thi$ collabor811ve worklng. Already the benefits are being seen with the funding enabling the ch81ity to reach a wider selection of people. The charity is not exclusive and recognises ihat working with others enables C8ncerAciive Recovery Support to develop and work in a larger geogr8phical area. The Charity 18 now providing a wide ranging information $6rvic8 forthose seeking informBtion 8bout C8ncer. The alm is to continue collabor8tiVg working by provldlng direct inloTmation and link8 to specrfic charities and services . Cancer Active Recovery Support hos det8il$ ot wrltten Information including scieenlng, tre8tment 8niJ rehabilitation services which can be accessed by those requiring support. This inlorm81ion can be Accessed digitally throu8h 8 DiTeetory which was developEtd during 2024 and which w8s launched in 2025. This is 8n irnPOft8nt resource which is coniinually being updBted . Initial feedback is eTernelY encouraging. Furtherto this. the fundln¥ from Macmillan Cancer Support has enabled Ihe ¢h8rityto set up and run C8ncer hubs throughout Leiceslershire. Allhough the setting up ot hubs was an aim last year, the collaboration with Macrni118n Cancer Support has enabled this to progress sooner than previously anticipated. At the time of writing this report. hub$ are up Énd runnlng in Molr8, Hlnckley, Loughborough . Market Harborough 8nd Leicester City centre . A furlher hub 8t M8lton Mowbr8y has been Identifled 8nd is about to start. The hubs run once o month al each loc8tion and provide a p18ce for tho$e with 8 Cancer diagnosis and their families, triends and carer8 to come lor a chat. The social benefit of thesg hubs cannot be underestimated. Not only do these hubs provide a space where people c8n feel able to telk but they c8n also accèss infomi8tion. Through the link8 which have been mode with specific cancer related groups, charities and support service5, the hubs are able to provide inloTmation in relation io 811 aspects of cancer. Additionally. there is th8 personal toueh from the face to f8ce conversations which are really 8ppreci8ted by those attending. Cancer Active Recovery Support has also benetitted frorn the hugo efforts made by individual donors. All thèse donaiions are greatly appreci8ted but special mention should be made a

The charty has a pool of volunteers who attend evenis 8nd promote Can¢¢r Active Recovery Support and asslst in charity fundraising. CancerActive Recovery Support has continued to use funding In 8 W8ywhich is 8ffective in promoting the aims otthe Charily. The Initial emphasis was on funding'ln The Pink, progrdmmes. These programmes provide support for people following a diagnosis of breast cancer. both on a physical and mental health basis. During 2024 Cancer Active Recovery Support has continued fundin8 programmes ai various locations in Leicestershire, Siaffordshire and Derbyshife. The chariry eontinues to fund the full cosl of the programmes includingvenues, delivery and equlpmeni. As Truste¢ Choir. I have attended sessions 81 the'ln The Pink, Pfogrammes. This has given me th6 Opportunity to watch how th8 programrne is delivered and also, more importantly, to speak directlywlth tho participants. As Trustees, the Board considers it is paramount that tha Charity funds are used eff8etively in a way which continues to promote the aims of the charity. The Charity 18 keen on transparenGy and both trustees and fund¢rs ar8 encoufaged to 8ttend the events provided by Can¢eT AGtive Recovery Support to sg0 al lirst hand how funds arè being used and to ensure that funds are being used appropriately and cost effectively. l am satisfied that the funding of the'ln The Pink. programmes is an effective way of promoting Cancer A¢live Recovery Support. Not only does It 8llgn with the aim to bring service3 to the local communitie8. bul ttte participants themselves continue to attest to ihe practical bfjnefils to their physi¢al and mental he8lth 8nd wellbeing. It 18 noted that Michelle Scott-worthington. who runs the'ln The Pink, programme8 and is the Charity C8ncei Rehabits"t8tion L8od. has recelved two awards tor herwork in the community and through the charity, namely thg North West Leicestershire District Council 50 BirthdayAw8rd tor work in the community of Me88ham North Ward 8nd Ihe Lets Get Moving for Health Award for Outstanding Contribution award . this is clear recognition by professionÉls working independently of Cancel Active Recovery Support, of the experience, expertise ond value Michelly Scott-worthington is bringing thiough herwork with CAncerActive Recovery Support to provide support to people following B cancer diagnosis. Not onty does this emphasise the importance of the services provided by Cancer Active Recovery Support but it raise5 the piotile of the ch8rity. CARS has also benefitted from those who have attended the programmes and now are aciively volunleeying and fundraising on behalt of the charity. Specifie events during 2024 have included the Valentines Day raffie. the E8Ster sale. and Tea at the Rltz, all of which generated tundsfor the charity. Cancer Active Recovery Support recognises the contributions made by the volunteers and those working with the Charity and a Volunteer's Morning was held in gecemb8r 2024to ihank those who have volunteered and 5UPPOrted CancerActs"ve Recovery Support during 2024.
