ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2025

Income.

We received no donations this year, and rely on just a single standing order. This gave us £300 for our endowment. A first full year of dividends and a tiny bit of bank interest gave us just short of £65.

Investment.

Our capital is held in the Church of England Central Board of Finance Investment Fund (Income Shares), a fund administered for church charities such as ours. It makes four (roughly equal) dividend payments a year. We added a further £500 to our capital: this means we held a total of 108.39 shares, with a market value of £2,406.18, on 31.12.25.

Since the capital is not to be sold, and it is only the income that can be utilized, we use what is known as ‘historic accounting’ for that capital; that is, the cost at which we bought the shares. The market value at the end of the year was a slightly less than this figure.

Expenditure.

It was agreed that £65 was too small a figure; no money was spent on the church or its ministry; instead it will be added to the sum available to increase the capital.

Trustees.

After giving most expert and conscientious service, it was with real regret that we said goodbye to Mr Paul Cunningham, when he resigned in the second half of the year. We shall certainly miss his knowledge and skill. The remaining trustees, at present, are Fr Peter Needham and Fr Nicholas Turner.

Purpose.

The purpose of the charity is to provide a regular annual income, for the church to use when needed. This endowment fund is not for the short term, nor the medium term, but for the long term future.

Nuisance.

Despite our answering all their communications, by letter, email and online, HMRC still insist we owe them Corporation Tax, and now want to fine us for not paying it. We are still hopeful that a resolution can be found.
