## **Annual Report**

## **Aims and purposes**

Friends of Anstee Bridge (FAB) secure services and supplies for the education and physical and mental wellbeing of young people attending the Anstee Bridge project (run by the Achieving for Children CIC for young people with social, emotional and mental health issues in the London Boroughs of Kingston and Richmond).

## **Objectives and Activities**

FAB applies for grants for specific projects or the general costs of providing resources and artists for Anstee Bridge. It also fundraises directly and encourages other supporters to raise money, such as sponsorship events, via an online fundraising platform. The grants for specific projects are ringfenced and monitored for expenditure directly on those projects. Anstee Bridge operates across the London Borough of Richmond and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and manages grants that have a requirement that they be spent in one of those specific geographical areas.

Over the financial year 1st December 2023 - 30 November 2024 the charity has received income from the following sources:

- Community Lottery Grant

- Jane Lemon Foundation

- RBK Resilience Grants

- L.Carrodus

- Surbiton Farmer's Market Grant

- Circles of Art

- Bartlett & Partners

- Public donations through sources such as Just Giving

- Specific fundraising events

- Other Donations through the activities of the young people (e.g tea parties)

- Local Companies supporting

- Online funding platforms

The major projects undertaken in this financial year were:

- Baking

- Safe Spaces

- Mental health boxes

- Refugee welcome pack

- The Museum of self

- The sensory wildlife garden

- "If only I knew"

- Mental first aid kit

- The sensory project

- Creative spectrum

## **Achievements and Performance**

FAB was able to support the provision of artists and materials for an average of 80 young people per week. Each of these young people have social, emotional or mental health issues, which make fully engaging with education difficult. Local schools make recommendations to Anstee Bridge of pupils they feel would benefit from the special support that Anstee Bridge can give. Working in small groups, the staff at Anstee Bridge are able to provide a safe and supportive environment to encourage all young people to flourish, helping them look forward to their futures. FAB trustees get regular updates on the work at Anstee Bridge that they are supporting through the provision of artists and materials.

The public benefit of FAB supplying funds for Anstee Bridge is that it enables successful workshops and projects for the young people, undertaken by professional artists, so helping the young people to start to regain control of their lives. By successful early intervention, it helps to keep many out of expensive mental health services, improves their physical health and wellbeing, enabling them to go on to lead productive, healthy and happy lives.

## **Financial report**

Income for this financial year was £55,086 and total expenditure was £29,383. The charity has no staff or premises and works on the basis of a grant received for a project is then spent on that project. There is low general running expenditure (occasional trips and general materials) that is paid by general fundraising or grants without conditions. FAB reserves policy is to have a minimum of £2,000 in our accounts.

## **Structure, Governance and management**

Trustees meet approximately every other month - 6 times a year. Each meeting receives an update on finances and work at Anstee Bridge, discussion on fundraising activities, grants applied for and received, any necessary policy changes, communications including website and anything ad hoc requested by trustees.

Occasional smaller working groups to discuss a particular project (such as new policies or fundraising events) will take place and report back to the full trustee meeting. Urgent requests for expenditure by Anstee Bridge may be agreed by email between meetings, according to the FAB scheme of delegation.

## Independent Examiners Report

I have reviewed the draft Financial Statements and Annual report supplied to me as well as the back up accounting records and bank statements for the year to 30 November 2024.

Based on what has been supplied , back up evidence provided and discussions with the Treasurer, and I am satisfied that proper accounting records have been kept, the Financial statements agree with those accounting records supplied and are in the correct format.
