Principle Activities

The year 2023 has seen considerable progress made at SVR Bewdley in the restoration of MW2047. New boiler placed on order with Israel Newton with delivery due in 2025. New cab and bunker floor fitted in place. Piston and valve rods machined and slide bars refitted. New bunker and cab roof painted. New WILPT owners plate obtained and fitted to cab rear sheet. Bunker fitted in place followed by rear sandboxes, handrails and handbrake. Cab sides refitted and refurbished rear buffers fitted. Cab roof fitted in place and footplate painted in undercoat. Cylinder drain cock gear and front sanders trial fitted followed by manufacture of new reach rods. New cylinder glands profiled and machined and a start made to re-metal crosshead slipper blocks.

New accounts have been set up for WILPT and the process of moving funds from old WILT & WILPG accounts is ongoing. Changes to Membership are also in progress with most members now signed up and paying subscriptions to WILPT. Following the placement of the order for a new boiler we were informed mid-year that the boiler barrel had been delivered to Israel Newton. A positive meeting with SVR Management also took place in September. It was agreed that an 125th Anniversary Event for HE686 should take place in October (which duly happened on 7th October). In addition HE686

was placed on display in Kidderminster Dock Platform for the duration of the SVR Autumn Steam Gala and this was repeated for the period leading up to Christmas and New Year.
