## Opening Letter from the Chair of Trustee’s 


Dear Supporters, Partners, Colleagues and Friends, 

I am delighted to present the Healing Hubs Charity Annual Report for 2023. As the Chair Trustee, it is my privilege to share with you the remarkable achievements and growth we have experienced over the past year. 

This year marks our first full year in operation and, despite being a new charity, our dedicated team, generous donors, and supportive volunteers have enabled us to deliver on our purpose and **make a positive impact on many lives in the local area,** for people with disabilities, health inequalities and those experiencing loneliness. 

From getting our website up and running, to appointing more permanent staff in the CEO, and Head of Fundraising roles, we have numerous tangible achievements that we can look back on fondly. All of which is supported by a strong financial performance which will stand us in good stead for years to come.

In each area we have made substantial progress throughout 2023, and it’s nice to take time, pause and reflect on just how far we have come. 

Looking ahead, we remain focussed on our **mission to provide compassionate befriending services and maximise mental health and wellbeing, with an emphasis on crisis prevention** . We are committed to continuing our growth, so we can reach more people and tell more stories about the positive impact we are having.

## 1. 2023 in Highlights 

As the first year of being in operation, 2023 has been about setting strong foundations from which the Healing Hubs can sustainably grow in years to come. In this respect, three highlights have really cemented our standing as a charity. 

## **1. Launching our website** 


This year saw the launch of our website. A central place to share information about the projects and activities we can offer people and the stories that can be told from people coming to our events. It also offers an online platform for people to donate money to the charity or sign-up as volunteers. 

## **2. Growing our venues and consistent donations** 

The Meeting place in Aldershot has, and always will, serve as a pivotal hub within our charity and the local community, attracting a consistent attendance of 25-30 individuals every week. In 2023 we have expanded this offering to Alton through the Alton Meeting Place on Fridays. Alton goes beyond offering coffee and crafts; it provides a haven where people can connect authentically, forging meaningful friendships. The space hosts engaging talks and welcomes all, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and 


belonging. This matters because it creates a tangible sense of community, where individuals find support, understanding, and genuine human connection, enhancing their overall well-being and enriching the fabric of our local area. Not only have we grown our venues, but with thanks to Kathryn, our Head of Fundraising, we now have a consistent stream of donations, which makes it much easier to plan for future expansion. 

## 3. **Generating Fundraising in Action** 

In May 2023, our Chair of Trustees, Ed Thomas and friend, Ben Wetherell completed a 100km walk along the Jurassic Coast and raised a fantastic £1,000 for The Healing Hubs Charity. Ed and Ben's donation meant we could open the Alton Meeting Place where we have seen a fantastic interest and has enabled us to provide staff, lunch, tea and coffee, and Arts and crafts equipment. Their effort to fundraise has benefitted more than 20 people who need our support the most. Ranging from mental well-being support to a warm safe place for people to meet each week to engage in new friendships and social interaction.

## 2. 2023 in Stories 


"We all call The Meeting Place our 'happy club'. I have seen The Meeting Place go from strength to strength **. It is wonderful chatting with all the people and playing games** . The singing that we do with The Memory Choir is just so good for the soul. Everyone always says how much they look forward to Mondays. The volunteers are all wonderful, too."

## 3. 2023 in Numbers 

We finish 2023 with a healthy margin of income being more than double our expenditure. This is particularly pleasing when you consider that we didn’t start having any incomings our expenditure until June, so we can expect this strong performance to increase significantly in 2024.
