GOVERNANCE
The Charity 15 a Charitable Incorporated Orgdnisalion (CIO). It is run by four
trusl¢¢s, one of whom acts as trea8ureT. The Trustee5 tneel as and when required,
usually at least once a year.
RESERVES POLICY, STRATEGIC AIMS, OBJECTIVES, ACTIVITIES
AND ACHIEVEMENTS
(as required by the Stalemeni of Recomtnended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their iiccounts Èn dccordancc with the Fitjancial Reporting St(Indard
applicable in the UK and Republtc of Ireland (SORP FRS 102 updaled January 2019))
OBJEcfivES OF THE CHARITY
The main objective of the Charity is to relieve the suffering of animals in need of care
and attention and, in particulai, lo provide and maintain rescue homes or other
facilities for the receplion, care and treatment of such animals.
To promote humane behaviour towards animals by providing appropriate care,
protection, treatment and security for animals which are in need of care and attention
by reason of sickness, mistreatment, poor circumqtances or ill usage (Ind to educate
the public in matters pertaining lo animal welfare in gen¢ral and the prevention of
cmelty and suffering among animals.
The acliviiies covered by the charity include offering shelter or sanctuary for ¢inima15
which are in need of medical altention; providing medical treatment for animals and
actively seeking new homes for 'rescued' animals.
Background Information
We are run solely by volunteers dedicated lo the rescue. rehabilitation and eventual
rehorning of disadvant¢iged or injured animiil8. We do not have our own premi.ses,
and anima15 are generally c(Ired for by foster homes or other charitable .S¢includrie5.
We are a small organisation and we Pride ourselves on giving a very personal service.
We will never allow a healthy, well balanced animal to be put to sleep, unless a vet
advises that it would be a better course of dction. Wc carry oui fundrdising activities
including online auctiuns and appeals for specific animals. We may receive a
voluntary donation from (Idopters, the amount being left lo their choice. We are very
graleful for the numerous donors who have Provided fundAng this year.
ACHIEVEMENfs AND PERFORMANCE
During the year. we have rescuedlrehomed 25 dogs. Dogs have been rescued in the
UK and in Romania and The Balkans, Spain, Ukraine, Greece and Chind. At the end
of the year, two dogs from Ukraine and one rescued from the meal trade in China
were awaiting new homes, the remainder hiid (Ill been settled in their new UK homes.
We are very grateful to our loyal bdnd of followers who send donations, many on (I
regular basis. Their continued support means we can conttnue to respond to needy
cases as they arrive.

We are also continuing to work with the Romanian Charity Associatia Saving
Orphaned Souls and are helping to fund the establishment of a permdnent shelter in
Romania. The shelter will house over 2(K> dogs and cats in a safe environment,
pending the aim of thern being rehomed to d forever home. During 2024, the shelter
made considerable progress with the erection of fencing and some kennels, and
work will continue during 2025.
Al the end of the year 2024, total funds held weIe £29,427. Of this, £19,316 is
ringfenced and held ds a DeSI￿ated Fund for the Romanian shelter.
FINANCIAL REVIEW AND RESERVES POLICY
The Charity's funds are held in an account with Barclays Bank.
The Charity aims to hold funds sufficient, at any one time, to fund all
rescued (Inimdls currently in our care. This will include the costs of feed,
kennelling and veterinary treatment required befoie the aDimals can be found
a forever home.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES
In preparing ihe financial statements, The Trnstees are required to:
•selecl suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.
• make judgements and eslim(Ites that are reasonable and prudent;
prepare the finitncial st(Ilements on the going concern basis unless il is
inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for ensuring that arrangements are made for
keeping proper books of account Wlth respect to the charity's tr¢insaclions and
its assets and liabilities such as to enable the Accounts of the chÉirity to give a
true and fair view of the income and expenditure of the peiiod. The tTUStees are
also responsible lor esliiblishing and maintaining a satisfactory system of
control over the ch(Irily s books of (Iccounl, its cash holdings and all ils receipts
and remittance5 dnd hcnce for taking steps for the prevention and detection of
fraud and other irregularities.
