Scouting exists to actively engage and support young
people in their personal development,
empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

**The Scout Method**
Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership
with adults, work together based on the
values of Scouting and:

- take part in activities indoors and outdoors

- share in spiritual reflection
- take responsibility and make choices
- undertake new and challenging activities

Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet weekly and
undertake a range of activities as planned each term.
These activities mainly contribute towards young people
developing life skills, as recognised in the achievment of
Scout Association badges and awards. Young People also
are recognised for long service. In addition to weekly
planned activities, special events or activities are also
organised such as sleepovers & camps, hiking, climbing,
canoeing, kayaking, archery and air rifle shooting. Young

the charity during the year|| ||Over the course of the year the following Chief Scout
Awards have been earned: Beaver Scout Bronze x 12, Cub
Scout Silver x 5 and Scout Gold x2. Young People have
had the opportunity to take part in a Pony Camp, Group
Camp, Adventurous Activity weekend, Remembrance
Parade, Local Carnival and Group Ice Skating trip. Scouts
took part in a County Shooting Competition, winning several
invididual medals. Over the year approximately 288 weekly
meetings have taken place, over 46km of water has been
paddled and 12 mountains climbed of 500m and above.
The current membership is: 16 Squirrels, 42 Beavers, 60

reserves|**Reserves Policy**
The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient
resources to continue the charitable activities of the group
should income and fundraising activities fall short. The
Group Executive Committee considers that the group
should hold a sum equivalent to 6 months running costs,
circa £15k.
The Group held reserves of approximately £35k against this
at year end. This is above the level required for operating
expenses. However this can be explained by approximately
£27k being held in a separate account for building a hut
