## **All Saints’ Church. Colwyn Bay ANNUAL REPORT 17 April 2025** As I looked over my diaries for the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025, I have felt somewhat thrown by the fact that nothing has stood out as being exceptional or out-of-the-ordinary in our activities over this period. Maybe this is a cause for concern or at least reflection, but I have always felt that the true test of a church’s life is precisely in the things that are routine, and, to that extent unexceptional: in other words, in its regular services of worship, its ministry of teaching, its pastoral concern for its members, and its fellowship expressed in love and care among its membership. While being aware of the danger of complacency, I believe this basis for the evaluation of a church’s life to be essentially correct. Over the past year our regular Sunday worship has been maintained, centred upon the celebration of the sacrament that both commemorates the events by which Christ has won our salvation and communicates the grace of that saving work to us. Our teaching ministry has included not only the routine preaching of God’s Word on Sunday mornings but also two blocks of mid-week Bible Studies, on the prophecy of Amos and (for Lent 2025) selected chapters from the Book of Revelation. It has been pleasing to note an increase in the average number attending Sunday worship over this past year, and the consequential evening up of the gender balance in our regular congregation. We nevertheless recognise that our congregation must grow and include rather younger people than we regularly see of late if we are to face the future with the confidence that the Lord has a continuing place for our church in his provision for people in North Wales to hear and respond to the Gospel and to be nurtured by His Word and Sacraments. This is clearly a central issue upon which our prayers must focus. As we did last year, we made a special effort with publicity to advertise our Christmas Carol Service on the Sunday before Christmas, and were pleased to welcome visitors with whom we were able to share the gospel of our Saviour’s birth. I continue to be involved with ACE on a more-or-less weekly basis, not least by participating in regular zoom meetings for prayer and discussion with the Bishop (Andy lines) and other clergy. The ACE clergy located in Wales now ‘meet’ as a separate group each month under Bishop Stuart’s leadership, in addition to ‘meetings’ of the wider fellowship of the Diocesan clergy drawn from all regions of Great Britain, Ireland, and parts of western Europe.
