2024/25

Introduction

Wool and Winfrith Football Club is a community run football club run by local people for the promotion of community participation in health recreation in the Wool, Winfrith and Wareham area by providing facilities for playing association football. The Club welcomes children from the area to participate in league football under Dorset FA. During 2024/25, the football club operated 11 teams plus Mini Kickers during the financial year which ranged from Mini Kickers U7 team to U16 Rangers including one girls team.

The club runs solely using volunteers who are members of the community as well as parents of the children playing for the club. We are a registered charity and we do not charge the children for match fixtures however do ask for a small contribution, payable across the year, from each family in order to support the running of the club. The contributions pay for training kit for each child, the cost of hiring and maintaining the pitches, insurance, regulatory courses and medical equipment. The club operates within the rules of the FA. For our teams under 11, they are noncompetitive and the club operates to ensure that these children are able to experience inclusive and enjoyable sport without the pressure of competition.

The club started in 2008 by parents who were looking to create a local team and has evolved successfully with the support of volunteers from the community and local businesses who sponsor teams. 2024/25 was a really successful for the majority of teams some who obtained their own sponsorship and obtained successful outcomes in their fixtures.

The club has ambitions to secure a tenancy on a piece of local land which will require significant works to create suitable training facilities and a match compliant pitch. In order for this to happen, the club will need to raise funds and will create a ring-fenced pot of money to do that. The committee agreed that a match fund pot of £50k would be its aim.

The club works hard to attract new coaches and volunteers to help with the growing of teams. We are working especially hard to create more girls teams.

We would like to say thank you to Coaches this year who have all done a sterling job. Those who have left us are xxxxxxxx for which we are grateful and wish them the best in their new endeavours. We welcome to the club xxxxxxxxx as new coaches, may they have a really successful year.

The charity is looking to build up its reserves in order to be able to match fund the purchase its own field and build new facilities. The match fund was agreed at £50k. The balance in the club account at the end of the year will be ring-fenced for this purpose. The committee have also made a decision to ring-fence any Giftaid received. Giftaid for 2024/5 has not yet been applied for.

Safeguarding and risk

The charity takes the issue of safeguarding the children and adults very seriously and has made arrangements to ensure the safety of the children whilst participating in the activities arranged by the club.

The charity uses the FA safeguarding policy which can be found on the FA website and has identified one of its trustees as responsible for any of the clubs safeguarding matters. The club ensures that all adults in contact with children under 18 the appropriate level of DBS check and there is a zero tolerance to bullying and harassment which is set out in the FA’s Bully & Harassment policy.

There have been no serious incidents reported during the year.

This has been a successful year for the teams and the club is solvent. The trustees would like to thank all the children, parents, coaches, referees and members of our community for their generous contributions to the running of the football club and for making it a welcoming and friendly environment for our children to thrive and grow.
