2023/24

Introduction

Wool and Winfrith Football Club is a community run football club run by local people for the promotion of community participation in health recreation in the Wool, Winfrith and Wareham area by providing facilities for playing association football. The Club welcomes children from the area to participate in league football under Dorset FA. During 2023/24, the football club operated 12 teams plus Mini Kickers during the financial year which ranged from Mini Kickers U7 team to U16 Rangers including one girls team. The club runs solely using volunteers who are members of the community as well as parents of the children playing for the club. We are a registered charity and we do not charge the children for training or match fixtures however do ask for a small contribution from each family in order to support the clubs activities. The club operates within the rules of the FA and for our teams under 11, they are noncompetitive and the club operates to ensure that these children are able to experience inclusive and enjoyable sport without the pressure of competition.

The club started in 2008 by parents who were looking to create a local team …….. and has evolved successfully with the support of volunteers from the community and local businesses who sponsor teams. 2023/24 was a really successful for the majority of teams who obtained their own sponsorship and obtained successful outcomes in their fixtures. Both under 12 teams made it to the quarter finals of the County Cup and under 12 colts won their divisions league. The under 9’s team played 22 games in the season and were undefeated.

The club has ambitions to secure a tenancy on a piece of local land which will require significant works to create suitable training facilities and match pith conditions. In order for this to happen, the club will need to raise funds and will create a ring-fenced pot of money to do that.

The club works hard to attract new coaches and volunteers to help with the growing of teams especially the girls teams.

We would like to say thank you to Coach Kieron Sutton who has been coaching mini kickers and under 7s and in his short tenure secured full sponsorship for the teams and has built a fantastic cabinet to hold the clubs lighting. We also say goodbye to Howie Richmond who has been successfully coaching the U9’s since they started as under 7s. Our U16s coach Emy Taylor also leaves us after joining 2 years ago from Wareham Rangers.

We welcome to the club Callum Maton, Danny Sumner, Mark Cullen, Niall Castalli Steve Rolfe and Adam Harris as new coaches. We would like to thank Lee Thomas for stepping up to Coach from Asst coach.

Lastly, we would like to say a big thanks to Tash who has spent the last 3 years as Treasurer to the club and also as Trustee. Tash has contributed enormously to the

club as Treasurer and has worked hard to secure charitable status as well as providing the clubs monthly financial reports and generally keeping on top of the income and expenditure.

Whilst Tash will remain as a Trustee for the club, We look forward to welcoming Tracie Langley as our new Treasurer from May 2024.

Finance

The charity’s financial period runs from May 1[st] to April 30[th] each year.

The clubs gross income and expenditure for the financial year May 2023 to April 2024 is as follows:

The charity is looking to build up its reserves in order to be able to purchase its own field and build new facilities. The balance in the account will be ring-fenced for this purpose. The committee have also made a decision to ring-fence any Giftaid received in 2024/25 for the same purpose.

The charity received the following grants during the year:

The charity received no payments from outside of the UK, nor did it make any payments to organisations or individuals outside of the UK.

Property

The charity owns no land or property. There is however an annual rental paid for the use of training facilities and football pitches.

Structure and membership

The charity is a single entity and has no subsidiaries. It is managed by four trustees who, during the financial year, were:

There are no other members entitled to vote on charitable matters.

The football club is managed through a Committee with the following Committee members:

• Natasha Drane (Treasurer)

The governance arrangements for the sound management of the charity are set out in it’s constitution.

Employees and volunteers

The charity employs no part time or full-time employees.

The charity operates solely through the contributions of volunteers.

Governance

The charity operates under the auspice of the Football Association and uses the FA standard policies, most notably:

• a. internal charity financial controls

• b. safeguarding

• c. serious incident reporting

• e. bullying and harassment policy and procedures

Safeguarding and risk

The charity takes the issue of safeguarding the children and adults very seriously and has made arrangements to ensure the safety of the children whilst participating in the activities arranged by the club.

The charity uses the FA safeguarding policy which can be found on the FA website and has identified one of its trustees as responsible for any of the clubs safeguarding matters. The club ensures that all adults in contact with children under 18 the appropriate level of DBS check and there is a zero tolerance to bullying and harassment which is set out in the FA’s Bully & Harassment policy.

Serious Incidents

There have been no serious incidents reported during the year.

Summary

This has been a successful year for the teams and the club is solvent. The trustees would like to thank all the children, parents, coaches, referees and members of our community for their generous contributions to the running of the football club and for making it a welcoming and friendly environment for our children to thrive and grow. Independent Examiners Report

Report to the Trustees of Wool & Winfrith Football Club registration number 1201138 on accounts for the year ended 30[th] April 2024.

Trustees responsibilities

As the charity’s trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

• the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

• the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

• the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
