The charity trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits.
The trustees meet as a body monthly and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the Mosque and the community facilities and the activities provided by the charity. To assist in the smooth running of the charity the trustees have set up a General Committee which gives input on every decision and a number of sub-committees that help them oversee certain aspects of the charity’s work. Sub-committees are currently set up for finance, education and for the day-to-day management of the building and report back with their recommendations to the full meeting of the Committee. The trustees chairs sub-committees whose membership reflects the particular skills that trustees can bring to the work of the subcommittees.
The existing trustees are responsible for the recruitment of new trustees but in so doing the trustees seek the views and recommendations of General Committee, elders and community leaders. The trustees believe this approach ensures that new trustees are respected members of the faith and local communities and ensures that good relations are fostered between the Mosque and the people of the local community that we serve.
New trustees appointed by unanimous agreement of the trustees and majority agreement of the General Committee. Removal of the trustees are by unanimous decision of the rest of the trustees and majority of the general committee.

There is no annual membership fee, however, voluntary contribution are encouraged. The membership is subject to compliance with the code of conduct set by the NBMA and abusing the membership will result in disciplinary action as per the disciplinary procedures.
Section C Objectives and activities
The objects of the charity are set out in the charity’s constitution and are summarised as follows:
To advance the Islamic faith for the benefit of the public in particular through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, the public celebration of religious festivals and the distribution of literature on the Islamic faith to enlighten others.
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
To advance the education of, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for leisure-time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for all residents of Norwich and the neighbourhood by the provision, maintenance and management of a community centre.
To help settle down the refugees and asylum seekers in coordination with other charities and government departments, arrange food and cloth for them occasionally.
To relieve financial need and suffering amongst victims of natural or other disaster in form of money or such means that Trustees shall determine
Maintain and provide the premises for educational, social, recreational and religious activities held therein

Establishing prayers, 5 times in a day and Friday Prayer. We have appointed a regular Imam to lead all the prayers.

Arranging the Eid Prayers twice a year and provide the gift to the kids.

Provision of food twice a week during the month of Ramadhan to break the fast.

Quran teaching for the young kids and adults. Arrangement of short sessions in light of Quran and Sunnah for the Adults every day of the week. However, session for the kids is twice a week.

Arrangement of Quran & Quiz competitions for the young kids to educate them and distribute prize amongst them.

Arrange other social activities for families and children so the community stay in touch and help one another.

The Association keeps a regular contact with the Police, Parish Council and South Norfolk County.

The association runs clothing collection campaign for homeless and refugees twice a year.

The Main source of the income is donations from the community and monthly volunteer subscription from the members of the committee.

The Charity employs a full time Imam and pay his salary.

Accounts
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the accounts and comply with the charity's governing document, applicable law and the requirements of the Statement of Recommended Practice "SORP 2005", "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005 and the Charities Act 2011.

Review of Activities:
Statement of Trustees' responsibilities:
The Trustees (who are also directors of Norfolk British Muslim Association Ltd for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the situation of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.

Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.

Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.

State whether applicable UK Accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.

Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitable company will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time of the financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the special provisions relating to companies subject to the small company’s regime with Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006 and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective January 2015).
For the year ending 30 June 2024 the Charity was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006.
The members have not required the Charity to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
The Trustees of the Charity acknowledge their responsibility for complying with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 with respect to accounting records and for the preparation of accounts.

Set out on pages 1 To 7 I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 30/06/2023. Responsibilities and As the charity’s trustees of the Company (who are also the directors of the basis of report company for the purposes of company law), you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”). Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited for this year under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”). Al Madinah Ltd owns the property known as Hethersett Masjid & Islamic Community Centre, located on Hensetad Road, Hethersett, NR9 3JH, which is the premises from which Norfolk British Muslim Association operates. The funds were used to contribute towards the repayment of debt incurred in acquiring the premises. The trustees have indicated that they are in the process of transferring legal ownership of the aforementioned property to Norfolk British Muslim Association Ltd.
