The Dylan Rich Legacy Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit In order to fulfil the charitable purposes outlined above, the charity makes grants to existing organisations that it considers well placed to deliver benefits in line with those purposed. This includes both funding existing projects and working with organisations to deliver new projects. During 2022-23, the charity has worked with three partner organisations on this basis.. (1) Belong (Nottingham).. Total funding during 22-23 (£8,775). This has supported a new project providing free football sessions in Nottingham for Belong target communities. (2) Nashulai Maasai Conservancy {Kenya).' Total funding during 22-23 (£4,010}. This has supported existing conservation activities and a new project to engage young people in conservancy through sport. (3) AJ Academy (Nottingham}.' Total funding during 22-23 {£2,805). This has funded an extension to existing provision of free sport for young people in targeted communities in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Public benefit ststement The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit,. Summary of the main achievements during the period Through the work with our charity partner Belong, we have been able to run weekly football sessions for young boys and girls within communities in Nottingham who would otherwise be unlikely to engage in football. Belong supports migrants from all backgrounds and many young people fa financial and cultural barriers to engaging with football and other sports through the existing club infrastructure in the city. Through a grant from our charity, Belong has been able to run dedicated sessions for young people from families it supports. These sessions have reached around 100 children in total during the year. Our partnership with Nashulai Conservancy in Kenya has led to both conservation and community projects being delivered through a grant provided during the year. The conservancy protects 4,000 acres of wildlife habitat and the legacy fund has provided additional rangers to help manage this area. Around 90 people have been engaged through the community work funded by the project, including a football tournament. As well as resonating with the Dylan Rich Legacy objectives, this tournament was able to engage a younger audience in the work of the conservancy.
The Dylan Rich Legacy During the year, a third partnership began with AJ Sports Academy. The Academy already provides football activilies targeting deprived communities in Nottingham through FA and city council funding. By working with an existing provider, we have been able to extend the scope and reach of the work of AJ Academy. 11 sessions were held during the year with around 67 young people engaged. The project also engages young people in coaching and supporting those taking part in sport and the organisation has a strong record in working with local councils, police and other partners to provide wider life support to young people. As this was the first year of the charity's existence. it did not set fomial objectives with regards to activities that it undertook or funded during the year. However, Trustees were clear that they wished to estsblish partnerships with existing organisations that could deliver projects to achieve its aims. This model relies on establishing relationships with partners and good progress towards this objective has been made during 2022-23. In addition to providing grants for projects, trustees have taken lead roles on liaising with and supporting each of the organisations delivering them. The year has also seen good progress made wrth regard to the governan of the organisation in its first year as a registered charity. Regular formal trustee meetings have been held throughout the year and trustee training was undertaken. Trustees also wished to see a balance struck between maintaining funds in order to be able to have an impact over years to come and making grants in order to put its resources to use in line with its charitable objectives. This objective was also met during the year. The charlty's policy on reserves The charity has no specific policy with regard to the level of reserves. Signed on behalf of the charity's trustees".
