## **Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document**

Our purpose is to advance and support the practice of the ancient Mahayana Buddhist tradition of Yamantaka across the world for the benefit of the public through:

- the production, publication and free distribution of websites and literature (including literature suitable for schools) on the tradition, history and practice of Yamantaka Buddhism

- the holding of meetings, lectures, initiations, and other public events concerning Yamantaka, supporting qualified persons in their teaching and practice of Yamantaka Buddhism

- the provision and maintenance of buildings and grounds as sacred spaces to be used for religious practice, meetings, lectures, initiations, and other public events concerning Yamantaka Buddhism

## **Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts.**

At the present time, the charity’s work is focused on the first of it’s stated objectives, primarily through hosting and maintaining a community website. he latter two objectives are not currently active, reflecting the charity’s small scale and resources, but the trustees remain open to opportunities to pursue them in the future should capacity and circumstances allow.

Therefore, the charity’s primary activity has been to host and maintain a community website that provides information, support, and a forum for practitioners. This also benefits the wider public by offering guidance and instruction about the religion. During the year the trustees have focused on enhancing and improving the website, and on developing supporting resources and advice. Links and encouragement for

## **Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit**

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit in planning and carrying out the charity’s activities. In doing so, the trustees have also remained faithful to the charity’s religious vows, recognising the act of giving as essential to our practice.

## **Our policy on grant making**

While we have no formal policy on grant making, we are currently not raising funds with the purpose of giving grants, and we have no plans to give grants in the coming year.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.38**

## **Our volunteers**

We cannot continue to function without the kind assistance of volunteers. Several people have donated their time and skills to this charity, and we are always interested in hearing from anyone who is willing to donate their precious time to us.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.20**

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole**

The charity’s website continues to serve as a valuable resource for practitioners worldwide, supporting both those new to the tradition and those with long-standing experience. During the year, the trustees successfully engaged with other foundations, institutions, and private individuals, who have expressed willingness for the charity to host prayers, translations, and other materials relevant to the spiritual path. The response from the community—both the general public and those within the tradition—has been consistently positive, reflecting the benefit and support provided through the charity’s work. In addition, by making these resources openly available, the charity contributes to wider public understanding of the tradition, fosters interfaith awareness, and helps to preserve cultural and spiritual heritage for the benefit of society as a whole.

## **Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held and amount of reserves held**

At year end the charity held £2,675, all of which is unrestricted and available for the charity’s purposes. The trustees expect that this will primarily be used to cover essential running costs such as web-hosting and domain registration. We do not consider this to be a significant reserve in absolute terms. Given our low annual expenditure and low risk profile, we believe it is prudent to maintain reserves equivalent to approximately 3–5 years’ expected expenditure (around £1,500– £2,500). This provides an appropriate margin of security for a charity of this size.

At present, our reserves of £2,675 are slightly above the 3–5 year target range (£1,500–£2,500). The trustees are satisfied this modest surplus is proportionate and will naturally be drawn down through regular expenditure.
