## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the period**

## **From 18/11/2022 to 01/01/2024 Charity name: Yamantaka Charity registration number: 1201071**

## **Objectives and Activities**

## **Sorp Reference 1.17**

## **Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document**

Our purpose is to advance and support the practice of the ancient Mahayana Buddhist tradition of Yamantaka across the world for the benefit of the public through:

- the production, publication and free distribution of websites and literature (including literature suitable for schools) on the tradition, history and practice of Yamantaka Buddhism

- the holding of meetings, lectures, initiations, and other public events concerning Yamantaka, supporting qualified persons in their teaching and practice of Yamantaka Buddhism

- the provision and maintenance of buildings and grounds as sacred spaces to be used for religious practice, meetings, lectures, initiations, and other public events concerning Yamantaka Buddhism

**Sorp Reference Para 1.17 and 1.19**

## **Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts.**

The charity inherits a community website providing information, support, and a forum to enable, empower, and benefit the community of practitioners, as well as to offer guidance and instruction to the public about the religion.

Our plan this year has been to transfer assets and responsibilities from this website, as well as to establish the organisation. We have also registered ourselves as a charity with Paypal and will continue to identify both fund-raising and charitable opportunities.

## **Sorp Reference Para 1.18 Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit**

Having been given sage advice during the accreditation of the charity, we continue to deliver our activities both in line with the guidance issued by the Charity Commission and also in line with our vows. We consider the act of giving to be essential to our religious practice.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.38**

## **Our policy on grant making**

While we have no formal policy on grant making, we are currently not raising funds with the purpose of giving grants, and we have no plans to give grants in the coming year.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.38**

## **Our volunteers**

We cannot continue to function without the kind assistance of volunteers. Several people have donated their time and skills to this charity, and we are always interested in hearing from anyone who is willing to donate your precious time to us.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.20**

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole**

We have accomplished quite a lot! The website now features over 100GB of documents, videos, and other resources to it’s members, as well as 10GB of resources to the general public and to those whose religious practices are in accordance with Yamantaka Buddhism. The website is now being hosted by a company who offers carbon neutrality, and therefore our carbon impact is very low indeed.

## **Financial Review**

**Sorp Reference Para 1.21**

## **Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period**

At the end of the 2023, we were yet to fully transfer our USD assets to the charity, which took place in 2024. However, our GBP assets were £469 at the end of the financial year, with an income (through £100 of donations, and £467 GBP assets) of £567, and an expenditure of £98.

**Sorp Reference Para 1.21, 1.22**

## **Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held and amount of reserves held**

While we stand at the end of the year £469 in the black, we do not consider that this represents a ‘reserve’. As our expenditure is very low, we do not consider ourelves to be at risk.
