Funds were **during the year** allocated for the replacement of the main entrance doors and to improvements to the foyer, toilets, and kitchen areas. Floors were painted, the sink plumbed, and wiring improvements were made in the attic space. Our intended aim was to have this building restored to as near original condition as can be achieved. We expanded our remit, with a view to preserving building 23, a former WW II Scramble Hut, used by Battle of Britain Pilots waiting on tasking to engage with the enemy and defend London. Initial plans were significantly hindered following the discovery of asbestos within the internal roofing structure. This necessitated a lengthy and pricey programme of asbestos removal, with the building only ready for further development at the end of this reporting period. Work is ongoing, alongside authority Conservation Officers as we manage activity on this listed building, again with the aim of restoring it as a useable space and with as much wartime infrastructure preserved or restored as is possible. Separately, a short film was commissioned intended to educate visitors on the journey of restoration, the characters and drivers that have led the project to where it is today. Short clips and extracts were pulled together and professionally edited such that it is nearly ready to be shown on loop as part of the visitor experience. Whilst working around restoration work, members of the public and UK Armed Forces, were provided tours of the project. Our sole guide and curator, gave his time, providing an experience that brought RAF Northolt’s war time history to life and added perspective and context to what we do today. Within this, we hosted a large group of wartime reenactors and photographers who created some evocative images using the building as the centre piece. Our biggest revenue grossing event, the RAF Northolt Night Photoshoot, went from strength to strength. Delivered by the Station for the project, this saw photo enthusiasts from around the country come onto the site and given opportunities to capture images of some unusual visiting aircraft. The Sir Keith Park Building served as a focal point for community activity and was at the centre of Family’s Days and other community facing events. Across the year, the project grew appropriately, both in relevance and in transitioning towards having two fully restored WW II buildings of historical importance.
