All trustees are involved with the monthly meetings (February to December). Committee meetings are held four times a year to discuss speakers and it is ensured that a variety of speakers are invited. Meetings are held around lung health and occasional interesting talks. When required new trustees are invited from monthly meetings that they feel would benefit the group. Trustees meetings take place once a year and adhoc.
The object[s] of the group for the public benefit to preserve and protect good health among, and relieve the needs of people who are suffering from respiratory diseases, and their families and carers, in East Anglia, in particular providing support groups which provide information, advice and organised activities which promote a healthier lifestyle, such as singing for lung health, pulmonary rehabilitation exercise and assisting in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment not normally provided by the statutory authorities.
Meetings are held February to December two of which are parties, a birthday party to celebrate the founding of the group, a christmas party, and an AGM and auction. The meetings are two hours long where the first half is taken up with a speaker, except the parties and AGM, and the second half is a chance for refreshments, catch ups and a raffle is held. Raffle prizes are supplied by members of the group.
Successful and informative meetings have taken place which involved talks on the following subjects:
Lung transplants
Inhalers and medication
Safety at home talk from fire and rescue
Chair based yoga
Respiratory physiotherapy
Bletchley Park
On average we have 30 attendees and all meetings are well received.
The charity has donated money for furniture to furnish a respiratory ward staff room at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital. Oximeters, hand held fans, shaving mirrors, physio equipment for exercise and mobility for the respiratory patients have also been purchased by the Charity.
