TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT
We continue to make significant progress in advancing health and well-being through innovative partnerships and initiatives focused on preventing ill health. Our flagship project of the year, part of our Health Education and Learning initiative, was the community play "Miss Ida – Tek Charge Yuh Health." The play effectively educated black elders about critical health issues across Birmingham and the Black Country.
Our collaborative work continues with other like-minded organisations, and by sharing our skills and resources, we have helped to establish and raise funds for partner organisations addressing mental and maternal health.
Our community garden continues to provide therapeutic support for individuals recovering from mental health challenges. We shared home-grown produce with participants, volunteers and a local church food bank.
We launched the Claim and Resources for Elders (CARE) project to tackle the challenges older people face due to the withdrawal of winter fuel payments. The initiative, in partnership with Greengage and the Citizens Advice Bureau, helps raise awareness of available entitlements to alleviate financial stress and address fuel poverty, which can lead to health issues.
Our Tech Connect project successfully trained Muslim women in digital skills who later supported elders in their communities looking to improve their digital skills and access NHS health services.
In Ghana, our ongoing support for the Orange Girl Foundation has ensured that hundreds of girls access essential sanitary products. We also supported their inaugural Menstrual Health Conference, where our Chair contributed via live stream to emphasise our commitment to the project. In partnership with the University of Birmingham, we produced an educational video on menstrual health for distribution, which we distributed to local schools.
We thank all our partners and look forward to another successful and productive year.
