## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Lighthouse Community Hub is governed by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and financial oversight of the charity. Trustees meet regularly to review progress, ensure compliance with governing documents, and oversee the delivery of charitable objectives. 

## **Objects and Aims** 

The charity’s objects are to benefit the local community of Newsham, particularly families experiencing inequality and poverty, by providing accessible facilities and activities that promote education, employment prospects, health, wellbeing, social connection, and practical life skills in a safe and inclusive environment. 

## **Activities and Public Benefit** 

In planning and reviewing activities, the Trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The activities described below were carried out in furtherance of the charity’s objects and for the benefit of the public. 

## **Review of Achievements and Performance** 

## **Building Conversion** 

During the reporting period, the charity successfully completed the conversion and refurbishment of its building. This project ensured that the premises are now fit for purpose, accessible, and suitable for community use. The completion of this work represents a significant achievement and enables the charity to deliver its activities effectively and safely. 

## **Delivery of Charitable Activities** 



Following completion of the building conversion, The Lighthouse Community Hub began delivering a programme of regular community activities, including: 

- Y **oga sessions** designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing, increasing access to low-cost wellbeing activities for members of the local community. 

- **Cooking from scratch sessions** focused on promoting affordable, nutritious eating and developing practical life skills, particularly supporting families affected by financial hardship. 

- **Toddler sessions** providing a safe and supportive environment for young children and their carers, helping to reduce social isolation, support early development, and strengthen family wellbeing. 

- **Adult learning classes** offering opportunities to develop skills, confidence, and knowledge, supporting personal development and improving life chances for adults experiencing inequality. 

- **Digital and IT courses** aimed at reducing digital exclusion by improving access to essential digital skills, enabling participants to better engage with services, education, and employment opportunities. 

These activities have contributed to improved wellbeing, reduced social isolation, and strengthened community engagement within Newsham. 

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

With the building conversion complete and core activities established, the Trustees are now focusing on the development of a community garden. This project aims to provide an accessible outdoor space that supports wellbeing, community participation, environmental awareness, and food growing. The Trustees view this as an important next stage in the charity’s development and a further means of delivering public benefit.

## **Risk Management** 

The Trustees regularly review the risks facing the charity, including operational, financial, and governance risks, and have taken steps to mitigate these where appropriate.

The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (UK GAAP).
