The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of Men in Sheds Brigg, a registered charity, for the year ending 01 November 2024. This is the second year of financial operation of this Charitable Incorporates Organisation (CIO).

Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document
Men in Sheds Brigg is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), governed by its Constitution (Foundation Model). The organisation was registered with the Charity Commission on 31 October 2022.
Operatonal Informaton
The Trustees form the executive committee of the charity, elected at the Annual General Meeting by members. All trustees are initially appointed for a two-year period.
The charity operates with a minimum of three trustees. There is currently an upper limit of twelve trustees.
All Trustees are provided with the Charity Commissions “Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees”, the Constitution and in future years, the financial statements and Annual Report.
Any training required by the trustees may be requested at any point, where it is considered useful to their role.
The board of trustees manages the charity and considers strategic decisions at its meetings.
These board meetings are regular and can also be arranged if a trustee requests.
Development meetings are held to inform, and receive insight from, members and volunteers on a regular basis. These also include potential referrers into the shed.
Any conflicts of interest are declared and recorded.
Day to day running of the charity will be undertaken by trustees, volunteers and members via the development meetings.
The charity has a specific trustee with responsibility for Safeguarding and risk management.

Objectve
The objective of the Charity is; “To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing adults, not exclusively men, in Brigg, from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of people who are socially excluded and helping them to integrate into society by providing facilities in which they can meet to undertake creative, physical or recreational activities, learn or pass on skills, knowledge and support each other.”
Actvites, Performance and Achievements
During the year to 1 November 2024 the physical shed has been made fit for purpose including new and donated machinery and furniture. Regular sessions have been held for members, 3 per week where members undertake wood crafts and much conversation.
The charity’s profile has been raised including the secretary utilising Facebook and having an Email members/volunteers list which is used to update “shedders” on shed news and other local interest groups and events.
The trustees and volunteers now have a standard set of markets, local fayres and events which bring in most of the charity’s funds and enable prospective members to receive information.
In February 2024, Brigg Shed applied as part of a Humber & Wolds lottery bid for 3 years of funding to enable sustainability of local sheds. As at 1 November 2024 the outcome of this bid has not been received.
Also in February 2024, membership fees were introduced, an annual amount of £15.
In April 2024 the charity was awarded a £1000 grant from local company Singleton Birch for tools and supplies.
The relationship with Brigg Town Football Club CIC has strengthened further although it is now certain that our shed site will be needed for the club’s refurbishment in 2025. There may be a possible site for the charity to use in the football club carpark but it is as yet unverified. The current shed will need to be removed by February 2025.

The required move of the shed necessitates an extension to members subscriptions. The shed will not be workable until at least May 2025 therefore no subscriptions are payable until the shed is again up and running.

1 To dismantle and rebuild the physical shed.

2 To continue to raise the profile of the charity via Facebook, email and in person.

3 To continue fundraising at markets, local fayres and car-boot sales.

4 To look to apply for grants from both local and national funds.

5 To continue to work with HWRA and other local sheds.

6 To identify and implement new weekly timings for members’ sessions.

To maintain a good relationship with BTFC CIC and be incorporated in the clubs’ redevelopment.
Financial Review
The charity has a financial policy in place and, due to the cash-based nature of much of its income, has an applied petty cash policy.
Plans for future years
The charity plans to increase membership over the next 3 years to enable sustained membership finances.
The charity also needs to recruit more trustees and volunteers to assist in operating and increasing the number of shed sessions available to members.
