Annual report for the period from 27/10/2022 to 31/3/2024:
-
Following the setting up of the REDZ Charity in October 2022, in order to meet our objectives we set up a new bank account in May 2024 and took over the running of the existing activities of the REDZ Performing Academy, based on regular school term time meetings at separate locations in Sandhurst and Frimley. These Saturday morning sessions were run by experienced staff and involved teaching and practicing performing arts skills to the young members, including singing, dancing and acting.
-
The term sessions were funded by fees from the parents of the young people, whose ages ranged from 4 to 16. These fees covered the costs of room hire, uniforms, staff wages and other costs such as insurance, telephone and the website.
-
Additional events were held during the year at which the young people performed in front of their parents and other paying guests. These events were the Celebration of Talent evening in September 2023 , at which the young people were given certificates for their performance, and the REDZ Xmas Show pantomime in December 2023. At these events we held raffles to help pay for the extra costs of the events, such as room hire, equipment hire and costumes.
-
We also had a stand at the Frimley Green Carnival in May 2023 in order to publicize the REDZ Charity and sell mementos and raffle tickets and we held a "Back to the Nineties" evening in Camberley in March 2024 with outside performers and paying guests in order to raise extra money for the charity.
-
We received a number of charitable donations during the year, which enabled us to set up a bursary bank account to hold these funds and enable young people to attend whose parents are unable to afford the fees.
-
We also planned and paid advanced fees for an event to be held in Camberley in October 2024 called "Elton Unleashed", with an external performer and paying guests, in order to raise extra money for the charity.
-
The running of the charity was carried out by the four trustees and the CEO and Executive Officer through a regular series of minuted committee meetings. The executive officers were Neil Braybrooke-Tidy (CEO) and Theresa Evans. The trustees were Alan Tidy (Treasurer), Margaret Newman, Nicola Webb and David Westwood and the above unpaid persons were also involved in helping to organise and run the regular term meetings and events.
