Structure, Governance and Management The Purposes of Grace Church Doncaster Taken from section 3 of the church Constitution: "The purposes of the Church are: the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith primarily but not exclusively within Doncaster and the surrounding neighbourhood; and such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the charity trustee5, Put into practice the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith, including but not limited to.. the prevention and relief of need, hardship and sickness; the advancement of education. and the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life." The Trusteeship of Grace Church Doncaster: There must be at least 3 charity trustees. these are officers of the church who tske on the role of trustee when elected by the membership of the church as deacons or elders. There are also 2 external trustees appointed by the board who serve on the board of Grace Church Doncaster. As detailed in the church Constitution and Handbook. Governance and Management: The Trustees must meet at least 4 times a year as ststed in the Constitution. Extra meetings can be called by the chairman or any two charity trustees at any time. Meetings may be held electronically and follow the agreed upon procedures and patterns in the church constitution. Activities and Achievements This report will comment on everfching from October 2022 to March 2024 in it's first report. The church was a newly registered charity and so had only 3 members at the stsrt of October as founding trustees and the pastors wife as per the constitution, however, 15 others have applied for membership and been accepted Into membershlp of the church In February 2023. Subsequently two other application5 for membership were received and welcomed into membership at a church members meeting 23 March 2023. One member subsequently resigned their membership when they moved to Sheffield. As of March 2024 the church has 18 members. Our hope is that thi5 will continue to grow. We have continued to run our Little Flshes carer and toddler group with good number5 attending and new people coming and staying. We have 42 families with which we have regular contsct through the time covered In the report. The group has really grown over the past year and it is a joy to see friendships develop and the gospel taught to the children every week through story. crafts and snack. We have also been running Coffee Time, a drop in café style event. on a Friday afternoon from 2.30pm. Numbers have really boomed at this such that the room begins to feel too full. Those who attend cover a wide spectrum. from a good number of secondary school pupils who come to have cake, play games, and do crafts, to young mums from toddlers, families from school at drop off. and some elderly people from the local area. We'd normally see about 60 people a week over the hour and a half, though this has bloomed since January 2024 and we now some weeks serve over 100. And it is developing really good gospel capable contacts, and enabling us to support young people, families and the elderly. We also held a holiday club at Easter 2023 which was well attended over the 3 days with children and families from the community. toddlers and further afield. There was a great atmosphere and many children engaged really well with the Bible storles and crafts. Similarly with the Light Party we ran for families in October. Partly as a result of that, ar)d as a bridge from toddlers into church for interested mums and children, we have begun a once a month Sunday afternoon service at 4pm on the second Sunday of the month. We started in November and the numbers attending have been ieally encouraging, with about 50 at the services. It has been particularly encouraging to see families from toddlers coming along regularly. We have continued to hold our regular Sunday morning services preaching through Job. Matthew. Amos and a series on Friendship as well a5 some summer Psalms. Children stay in the service but have activity sheets provided part way through at the back on supervised tables. We have been saddened by our Iranian brothers being relocated around the UK this year. though we are still in touch with many of them_ But we have also been heartened by seeing new families, and some who had wandered away come back to, meet with us. We have also continued to meet on a Thursday in a home which has been a mix of Bible study and prayer meeting. Whilst numbers fluctuate week to week we are encouraged by a committed core group. We have continued to be involved with Medhurst Ministries, hosting an evening for them with local churches in September and in supporting them with a donation via our harvest offering {£342.551. We hope that 2024125 enables us to continue to advance the Christian faith as we disciple members of the church and as we continue Little Fishes, Coffee Time, Sunday Mornings, LightHouse and our other regular meetings. We also plan to hold the Light Party and will be explorin8 running a Holiday Club at some point during the year. We also pray that we will be able to grow our leadership team over the comin8 year. Financial Review 2022123 Our financial year run5 April to March. So this financial report will comment on 25 October 2022 - 31" April 2023 Grace Church Doncaster began the year with a new bank account as a new charity with no £0. During the year total receipts amounted to: £5,718 During the year total expenditure amounted to: £219 The year closed with a balance of.. £5.499 Grace Church Doncaster has one paid employee and relies on both internal and external giving. The costs are low for this year as the Pastor's salary continued to be paid by Bessacarr Evangelical Church until April 2023 when his payroll became the responsibility of Grace Church Doncaster. The Hiring costs for the school hall were also not invoiced for this term until into the next financial year. 2023124 Our financial year runs April to March. The opening bank balance is reflective of the fatt we became a CIO in October 2022, when we opened a new bank account. From October 22-March 23, the Pastor's salary was paid by Bes5acarr Evangelical Church. From April 2023, his payroll became the responsibility of Grace Church Doncaster. REPORT OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER I have completed the examination of the accounts and have provided Alex with the report for the Charitles Commission. I found no material errors of omissions in the accounts and am satisfied that they give a true and fair view of activities undertaken. There were, however, administrative changes in the method of recording and receipting which needed attention. These have been discussed with Alex who has undertaken to amend the processes accordingly. These changes will need to be reviewed in next year's audit. l also asked Alex to rnake amendment5 to the way pensions contributions were recorded to comply with accounting standards. This is a mir¢or issue around the way income and expellditure is reported and does not affert the actual amounts involved. Overall, Alex has done a good job. Hopefvlly. the amendments proposed will make his job easier in the future.
