|---|---|
||Several activities were undertaken by the CIO during this period for the
public benefit in line with the objects of the charity.
In 2024, the CIO applied for and secured approx. £25,000 of funding from
the Open University’s Open Societal Challenges scheme to pursue a new
theatre project focusing on myth and the environment. Several workshops
were held in 2024 to begin developing this work, including identifying key
themes and participants, primarily women and LGBTQ+ artists. These
included a public sharing in June, attended by 50 people.
The CIO was also included as a creative partner in a large academic
funding grant, CoastARTS, which was successfully awarded in 2024 and
which addresses ecological destruction and resilience in coastal areas
and among marginalised communities through the arts. Initial
conversations with the research team were held and work on this project
will continue into 2025 and beyond.
We also held an online reading of a new play by playwright Wendy Haines
which addresses issues related to women, in particular women’s shelters.
This reading helped to develop the play and was attended by a small
audience of regular supporters.
Throughout the period of this report, the CIO maintained a suite of free-to-
access resources on YouTube and SoundCloud, including recordings of
previous productions, companion podcasts, and discussion sessions. The
CIO also maintained a social media presence on Twitter (now X) to
continue engaging audiences with our content, and developed specific
content for paying supporters on Patreon including behind-the-scenes
updates and an exclusive supporters’ event in the form of a live play
reading.
Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit.|

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:
