Additional governance issues

The Trustees are held responsible for the organisation’s finances, as well as setting the strategy and monitoring the performance against that strategy.

Before anybody can become a Trustee, they must first be able to demonstrate in writing, the skills that the organisation has identified that it needs. This will then be discussed at a Board meeting before the person is invited to come and observe the workings of the Board. If everybody is in agreement, the person will then be asked to become a member. Trustees are all volunteers. Boomerang's Pet Foodbank has no paid employees.

Pet food and other pet essentials are distributed to those in need through either self referal or referal by outside organisations and/or charities including but not limited to Council services, Churches, Animal welfare and Foodbanks.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects

Boomerang's Pet Foodbank works with a number of agencies throughout East Anglia who assess those who require pet food, owners requiring support can collect from various town locations when required. These include Haverhill, Saffron Walden, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Ipswich, Braintree and Sudbury. We intend to continue widening our service area. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

In this financial year, Boomerang's Pet Foodbank has had 232 pet owners register their need, these registrations involve almost 700 pets, the vast majority being cats and dogs.

The main reasons for people needing pet foodbank support were low income, and benefit delays. Clients of Boomerang's Pet Foodbank receive support and are signposted to organisations that can help them further to resolve owners issues including veterinary treatment.

Over this financial year, Boomerang's Pet Foodbank has received pet food donations from the public and larger animal welfare charities including RSPCA and Blue Cross. Boomerang's Pet Foodbank is also a Foundation Charity with Pets (formally known as Pets at Home) and has also receive regular pet food donations from them. We have seen a continual rise in support requested.
