## 1. Reference and Administrative Details

Structure: Coastwatch Wales is an unincorporated charitable association governed by its constitution. 

## 2. Structure, Governance and Management 

The charity is governed by its constitution and managed by a voluntary trustee board. No trustee received any remuneration, related party payments, or other financial benefit during the reporting period. The charity has no paid employees and holds no land or property. 

New trustees are recruited from the membership and appointed in accordance with the charity's constitution. 

## 3. Objectives and Activities 

**Coastwatch Wales** exists herewith a statement of charitable objects as set out in our constitution — 

## _**"promote the safety of those using the coastal waters of Wales through voluntary observation, education and community engagement"**_ **].** 

All activities undertaken by the charity are carried out in pursuit of these charitable objects and for the public benefit. 

## 4. Achievements and Performance 

The trustees acknowledge that activity during this reporting period was significantly limited. A shortage of volunteers, compounded by periods of illness among key members, restricted the charity's ability to carry out its usual programme of work. 

The trustees are grateful to all those who continued to give their time and support under difficult circumstances. 

Plans to broaden the charity's activities and membership base were also affected by developments within the wider sector. A larger national organisation operating in the same field has taken steps that have, for the time being, required **Coastwatch Wales** to place certain planned initiatives on hold. The trustees continue to monitor this situation and will adapt the charity's plans accordingly. 



## 5. Plans for the Future 

The trustees' primary focus for the coming period is to strengthen and grow the membership of Coastwatch Wales. In particular, the charity intends to: 

- •Attract younger volunteers and members, recognising that engaging a new generation is essential to the charity's long-term sustainability and effectiveness. 

- •Review and revise its outreach and engagement strategy to reach younger audiences through appropriate channels. 

- •Reassess shelved initiatives as the position with the larger national organisation becomes 

clearer, resuming those plans when it is appropriate and practicable to do so. 

The trustees are committed to ensuring the charity remains active, relevant, and resilient. 

## 6. Financial Review 

## Income and Expenditure 

Total income received during the reporting period from donations was less than £500. 

The charity received no income from grants, trading, investments, or any other source. 

## **Expenditure during the period was to purchase a wreath for the Trafalgar (RN) day at Llandudno Cenotaph in 2025** 

## Reserves Policy 

Given the small scale of the charity's finances, the trustees hold any funds received as a general reserve to meet the charity's running costs and further its objectives. The trustees consider the current level of reserves to be appropriate to the charity's needs. 

## Financial Controls 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records and for ensuring funds are used only in pursuit of the charity's charitable objects. Given income below £500, no independent examination or audit is required for this reporting period. 

## 7. Declaration 

The trustees declare that they have approved this report and confirm that it gives a true and fair view of the charity's activities and financial position during the reporting period.
