OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

The objective of Steps of Hope CIO, which was set up at the end of 2022, is to share the love of God with the homeless and those in need in Liverpool, by compassionate actions and words in accordance with our Christian faith.

Our Vision

Our vision is to support those who are homeless and in need and to introduce them to the Christian faith and where possible bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

What we do:

Week by week we serve our friends with food and drink and provide them with toiletries and clothes. Each week there is a short Gospel message and Christian literature is available. The volunteers seek to engage in conversation with our friends and share our faith and hope.

When it is needed, we help to link with other agencies who can help including Housing Options and the Whitechapel.

When our friends express interest, we will direct them to other Christian organisations who are there to support them.

We also support our friends as they move on into their own homes.

Where we work

At the beginning of 2024 we have worked in the Basement on Parr Street, Liverpool and we are so grateful to them for the use of their premises. However, as the numbers we served regularly increased, we moved to larger premises at the Big Life Hub on Lydia Ann Street . The move has been very positive, and we are so grateful to the Big Life Team who are so supportive to us.

The Alpha Course

In the autumn we ran an Alpha Course on a Sunday afternoon in the Big Life Hub and between 5 and 12 of our friends attended each week. We were delighted to see so many expressing an interest in hearing more about Christianity.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing Document

The charity is governed by our constitution and is now a Charity Incorporated Organisation.

Trustees:

The current Trustees are:

Mrs Shirley Perry - Chairman

Mr Doug Taylor - Secretary

Dr Christine Sansom - Treasurer

Wider Network

We have a faithful team of regular volunteers who join the team working in Liverpool each week and we are indebted to them for their time and devotion.

There is also a large team of people who make casseroles, sandwiches, and cakes each week and others who shop each week. We are so grateful to each one of them.

We could not function without a large number of praying friends who support and make this work possible.
