**Purpose:** To advance education and promote social inclusion within the LEO Academy Trust's area of operation.

The main activities undertaken by the LEO Foundation CIO for the public benefit are focused on advancing  education  and  promoting  social  inclusion  within  the  LEO  Academy  Trust's  area  of operation. 

## **Foundation Launch and Development** 

The LEO Foundation was officially launched at the Annual Conference in October 2024.  Since then, the Foundation has been actively engaged in development and income generation activities, with support from an external consultant. This collaboration has focused on establishing a sustainable framework for the Foundation's future growth and impact. 

As of the 31st, August 2024 the  LEO Foundation CIO held  funds totaling **£20,438.70** . These funds are composed of: 

- **£17,762.76:** Transferred from the LEO Foundation Account. These funds were generated from the Trust's lottery. 

- **£2,675.94:** Generated from the Trust’s lottery. (Please refer to the attached sheet for a detailed breakdown. 

There was no expenditure in the period between 01/09/2023-31/08/2024 

## **Purpose of Funds** 

At the Autumn 2024 Meeting of the Foundation Board, the Trustees agreed to allocate funds towards the following initiatives: 

- **Foundation Quiet Areas:** Funding the establishment of a quiet area in each academy, to be named the "Foundation Quiet Area." (Estimated cost: £500 per academy). 

- **Turing Grant Support:** Supporting the Turing Grant initiative by funding an additional 7 children from disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in the trip to Denmark and California. (Approximate cost: £10,000).

- **Trust-Wide Health Eating Programmes:** Funding trust-wide initiatives and programmes focused on promoting healthy eating habits. (Cost to be determined). 

- **External Support for Parents:** Funding ongoing external support programmes for parents, covering topics such as managing behavior and well-being. 

## **Reserves:** 

As of 31st August 2024, The LEO Foundation CIO currently holds £20,438.70 in funds. These funds are being utilised to support the initial charitable activities of the Foundation. As the Foundation grows, a formal reserves policy will be established to guide future financial planning and ensure sustainability. 

The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit when making decisions about the LEO Foundation CIO's activities. 

The LEO Foundation CIO is committed to ensuring that its initiatives and programs achieve their intended impact. Feedback will be sought from beneficiaries, stakeholders, and partners to gather insights and inform improvements.  Reports on performance, including progress against activities and feedback received, will be presented to the Trustees on a termly basis.
