Overview of Activities lo Dale
Since our regisirarion on 10th O¢iob¢r 2022, Savin¥ Strays Aninial Rescue lias made 5i¥nifirant strides in fulfillin¥ our
Inission of rescuins and iehoming anima15 in need. The charity lias been invtslved in a variety of key activities. some of
ithich have been both rewarding and challenging.
Significanl A¢tivrties
l. InfrasiructUTe R¢vi¢w.' As the chariiy grew, we realised tl)e importance ol. revi¢wing and refining our internal
infrasii'uciure. In rhe past, we were very eager lo t￿ike in 41ny animal that needed help. Ivhich resulied in unsusiainable
Costs and high vet bills. We have become more selective in ihe animals w¢ can assist. taking a more rcalistic approach to
(he number of rescues we can Inanage.
2. Expansion of Equine Offering.. We also expanded our work to in¢lude equines, acknowledging the growing need for
equine rescue in OUT comniunity. This was a posltive development, bui it did require adjustm¢nis in both finan¢c5,
resources and expertise. We continue to learn and adapt a5 we take on this new area of animal rescue.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Flnartcial position
We have Inainiained accuraie and up-ro-daie r¢Eoid5 of reLeipls lind iiiwoice5, ensuriiig transparency in all financial
mariers. However, w¢ have faccd challenges in balancing the ¥rowing cos19 associated with vet bills, esp¢¢ially in thc
early siages when we look in animals without fully iinder5tanding the financial impaci. With ihe resiruciuring of our
per￿llionS, w'e are now more diligent in assessing rlie linaiicial viabiliiy of each rescue.
Challenges F¥c¢d:
Risin
Vei Cosis.. One of ihe biggest ¢hall¢ng¢s we have la¢¢d 15 the overwhelming cost of yeteriiiary care. As a
rescue, we have ofien been presenied with animals thai require significant medical tr¢atm¢nt, which has lcd to subs(aniial
vei bills. This has been a constani strain on our linances.
Voluiiie¢r Relaiioi)ships.. One of th¢ IMor¢ 5igniti¢ant aiid ¢hallenÉJing events we faced was taking legal aciion againsi a
loni)ei' volunteer over unpaid vet bills for animals paid for by the rescue. As a resulr. we are tLOW more cautious and
seleLlive aboui Iiow we work with vvluntetrs dnd ensure th41t we have clear contracts and ¢xpeclations in place.
Sustainability.. In the early months, our rescue operaiions were noi always susiainable, as we did not have a clear
framew'ork in place for maiiaging incumin¥ aniina15, VLt bills, or fundi'aisiiig efforts. Tliis iiiade us realise the iinportance
of having a strateLiic approach 10 ensure rhe long-iern) viability of Ihe cliarily.
