## **TRUSTEES REPORT**

All praise be to Allah SWT and peace and blessings upon our beloved prophet Muhammed SAW.

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah SWT, we have continued to grow and progress over the past year in both our Masjid and Madrassah operations. Since our last report, we have seen a sustained growth in the Muslim population of the area and community we serve. We are committed to serving our congregation by offering essential religious and educational services to a diverse Muslim community. Unlike our neighbouring areas, which primarily consist of individuals from South East Asia, our community is uniquely enriched by people from all corners of the world brining different cultural, language and ethnic perspectives.

## **Fundraising and Community Engagement**

One of the key highlights of this past year has been our successful fundraising initiatives. We organised a fundraising walk to Mount Snowdonia, where over 30 participants came together to raise money for the Masjid and Madrassah. This event not only helped in raising necessary funds but also strengthened our community spirit and collective sense of responsibility.

In October 2023, we hosted a ‘BBQ’ fundraiser, which was highly successful. The event attracted a large number of attendees from the community and beyond, allowing us to generate additional funds to support the running and maintenance of the Masjid and Madrassah. We also participated in the Kumon Y’all Annual Family Fun Day hosted in Dewsbury in July 2023. These fundraising activities have been essential in ensuring the sustainability of our projects and maintaining the Masjid as a focal point for worship and education.

## **Development of the Madrassah**

In September 2023, we officially launched our Madrassah, initially starting with just a handful of students. Alhamdulillah, the numbers have increased significantly over the months, reflecting the strong demand for Islamic education in our community.

To accommodate this growth, we worked diligently to configure the classrooms to a high standard, ensuring that they are safe, comfortable, and conducive to learning. All necessary safeguarding measures have been put in place, ensuring the well-being and protection of our students. The Madrassah has become an integral part of our Masjid, offering children foundational Islamic knowledge and deepening their connection to their faith. The Madrassah leadership has also been fortunate to develop materials and guidance notes to support other institutions.

## **Expanding Our Educational Facilities**

We are now focusing on expanding our efforts to address community needs and demands by developing additional learning services. Our aim is to enhance educational opportunities and religious learning, ensuring that our community members have access to high-quality, structured, and supportive environments. These efforts will allow us to grow while building a strong foundation for future generations, ensuring that our institution remains a beacon of Islamic knowledge and guidance for years to come.

## **Community Programmes and Religious Education**

Throughout the year, we have continued to offer dedicated programs for both brothers and sisters, providing valuable Islamic education and fostering community engagement. These sessions have enabled our members to deepen their understanding of Islam and strengthen their faith.

2

Our commitment remains steadfast in maintaining and expanding these services, ensuring that our Masjid serves not only as a place of worship but also as a centre for spiritual growth, education, and community support.

Additionally, we have upheld our food collection and distribution programme, offering assistance to all members of the community - regardless of faith or background -ensuring support reaches those most in need. Beyond this, we have connected vulnerable families facing economic hardship with essential advice and assistance.

During Ramadan 2024, we successfully hosted our inaugural Masjid As-Salaam Poetry Competition for children under 12, which was met with great enthusiasm. As part of our community outreach, we also distributed gift bags to all local children, funded through private donations. Furthermore, we organised tailored Ramadan programs specifically for teenagers and young adults, providing practical guidance and interactive sessions on facing societal challenges and leading a responsible life.

## **Looking Ahead**

As we move forward, we humbly seek the continued support of our community. The Masjid and Madrassah were founded with immense passion and dedication, driven by a deep desire to serve and uplift our community. In just a short time, we have made significant strides, yet there is still much work ahead to maximise our impact.

We pray that Allah SWT blesses this project, allowing us to continue serving our community with sincerity, excellence, and unwavering commitment.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
