TRUSTEES REPORT

AWW All praise be to the Almighty and peace and blessings upon our beloved prophet Muhammed SAW.

Alhumdulillah, by the grace of the Almighty we have come a long way over the past year. We started with just an idea and aspirations to have a dedicated Masjid in our area due to an increased need given the distances from the other Masaajids and so the sustained and substantial influx of Muslim families over the past 10 years. This search had been ongoing for several years and previous attempts were made to establish a prayer facility with no success.

Alhumdulillah, through efforts from people who had that worry and concern to establish a Masjid a suitable premises became available and the building was viewed initially on 6th of June 2022 and was considered to be ideal for the purposes of a Masjid and also Madressah in due course. Importantly, since the building was classified as a place of worship, it did not require planning permission in order to operate as a Masjid, saving considerable time, expense and uncertainty. The building was shown to several respectable local senior ulama who all advised us to purchase the building and if it’s the Almighty’s will, a Masjid will come to existence.

Working with the support of the leadership teams of other local Masajid, we created a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and also established a charity bank account. The support for the Masjid was incredible and unprecedented, and we ultimately managed to raise the funds and acquire the property on 2nd December 2022.

Since then a neglected building has had some much needed care, attention and investment to restore its soul and character. It has had both exterior and interior improvements in keeping with the listed nature of the building and approved by the Kirklees Conservation Officer. The interior has been given fresh modern calming colours whilst restoring the period features such as the incredible wooden ceiling in the main hall and laying down carpets for the comfort of the congregation. Two imams were then appointed and five times namaaz started on 6th of March 2023 followed by opening dua ceremony on 12th March 2023. This showed an overwhelmingly positive response from the community and further afield with an estimated 300 people attending the event. Ramadhan has also brought about a tranquillity both physically and spiritually in our community and we pray that the attendance continues to grow.

The Masjid is already showing how much it was needed given the demand especially from the numbers we see in Jumma as well as during taraweeh. With a rapidly growing community we pray that the Almighty SWT continues to make the Masjid flourish.

Wsalam Omar Mayet

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Earlsheaton As-Sabeel Trust for the year ended 31 May 2023, which are set out on pages 4 to 5

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the Charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
